The Fear Factor

The real reason they don't let Gays serve openly in the military is...

Men are affraid they will be treated the same way they treated women since the beginning of time.

You kind of lost me there. "They" in that sentence could be "the gays" or they in that sentence could be "the Men (who mistreat woman.)

by acroso on 06/10/2007 12:41:22 AM EST

Who has mistreated women since the begining of time?
Have gays made women second class citizens?
Have gays treated women like property?
Have gays killed female babies because they are seen as having no value?
Do gays force women into burkas?
Do gays constantly sexually harrass women in the work place?

Men are afraid that Men will treated the same way that Men have treated Women since the begining of time.
Just seems to lose some of it's [the sentance from the original post is being replaced with "it's"] chuckle effect.
In creating something meant to invoke a laugh combine with a serious thought from just a single or a couple lines, word play, including repetition, and timing intertwine to create the punctuation of the joke.
It was my hope that people would ready the sentence, chuckle and say "ain't that the truth."
Your point in purely gramatical term is correct. So I can only plead Comedic Licsense.

For some if there was a gay male at say one of the military academies....he WOULD be treated like a woman.

So I did a double take when I read that because I saw two interpretations.

I don't think KenTX is homophobic.  I can't speak for his sexual security or insecurity, but if Ken were to tell me that his best friend were gay, I'd believe him.  Ken is usually genuine in that regard (unless I'm just really gullible).  That's why we could really use his input in this thread.

I think I can offer some insight here. The most common phrase I would here after I either told people I was Gay or they were told by someone else was "but you don't look gay". The reason for this is most people, except for other gay people (yes, we can tell) and the most diehard "faghag" would not percieve me as gay. People only see the gay person who is obvious to them. They don't see the ones like myself.  In fact the best term would be that I am the "anti-fag&quo t;. I am contrary to most sterotypes. I was a Jock in school. I don't dress very fasionably and I'm a little of a slob.
But to the point. Most people one on one are not a problem with excepting a gay person. Their initial reaction maybe based on socially installed sterotypes or prejudice, but, those fall away as the person becomes more familiar with the person inside.
In groups people can be a very dangerous thing. It becomes very easy for the prejudice and hostility of a few to sway the group.

"...it is not OK for KenTX to speak of gays with amusement?"

It IS okay.  Homosexuality has changed a lot in the public spotlight, but one thing that hasn't changed:  It has always been funny, just as sex of any type has always been funny.  And it will never stop being funny to somebody.

Ken's spicy brand of humor must be like a blowtorch in the ear of BytchBang, who has recently proclaimed himself to be a wide-eyed, innocent defender of equal rights for people of all sexual preferences.  I hope this small rift doesn't mean ending the duo's historic relationship.

Hmmm.  No answer.  So, was that an empty accusation?  Yeah, thought so.

I've never used the gay label for the purpose of discrediting someone's political position (and I don't foresee myself ever having to do so, either).  I don't think MrFred has, either, come to think of it.  Maybe you could find us some evidence to the contrary.  Or, maybe next time you could think before you unhinge your jaw.

Your assumption that a couple would abort a baby because its gay. Infers that you think gay is " wrong" or a "defect" . The premise is false. The question is wrong headed. Dont you have an operation rescue meeting to go to? Maybe you could busy yourself helping babies that are already born. Like the ones suffering and starving in Africa.

"This would give all parents the option of either aborting or delivering a gay baby."

That certainly would alter the demographics (that is, which parents are more likely to have abortions).  Imagine right wingers fighting tooth and nail for the right to choose because they're too embarrassed to introduce anyone as "my gay son."  Anyone who said the right wing has no shame is wrong; on the contrary, they have a keen, irresistable, all-dwarfing sense of shame.

Can't give a "intelectually honest" answer?

You have to hide behind some "constitutional framework"

Once again

Since you have no problem with homosexuals and you do not fear homosexuals and you are not encumbered by the moral concerns of the extreme Christian right, Gay marriage should not be a problem right?

I guess you cant contact Chuz to get the answer. Don't worry, I'll wait. When you do, let us know.

By the way...maybe you should read your puppet masters blog:

I have posted my views many times over the years; primarily in the forums linked to in my earlier articles. I will be posting them again here. (soon I hope) However, I have learned over the years that many people are "discoverers". They like to come to their own conclusions by thinking for themselves. In fact, I would place myself in that category.

So, I thought that it would be (both) fun and effective to provide my "non religious based" (and) Constitutionally sound basis for banning elective abortions... by posting a sampling of questions that I have asked of myself... in my personal quest for the truth.... specifically with regard to the questions "when does a person's life and rights begin?" And, whether or not the perceived right to have "elective" abortions are rights which are in fact Constitutionally sound.

Please answer these questions and share your conclusions with myself and the rest of my readers. (For added depth, I have added questions which get to the basis for several of my other positions, as well) Enjoy!

 Now for "your" blog.

My friend ChuzLife and I have assembled a series of questions designed to assist willing participants in their own discovery as to what the non-religious, yet Constitutional basis is... for the opposition to many of the hot button items in the leftist agenda. (namely; elective abortion, gun control, gay marriage)

It is odd the Chuz never once says he had a collaborator on his questionnaire. Not one we or our.

Its also instructive to note that Chuz never once demanded readers answer the questionnaire. He used the word "share" which means to give part of what one has to somebody else to use or consume. Sharing is generally voluntary. Mandatory sharing has many names robbery,  extortion or as KenTX would say ; taxation.

So exactly which questions did you assemble BorrowBang?

Its also interesting that Chuz never once mentions gun control, gay marriage in the preface to his questionnaire. Not one time. I would think if you collaborated with Chuz for that purpose he would have said something about those subjects . Alas he does  not. Why is that?

Its also obvious you have never read the references Chuz so painstakingly put together...himself.

If so ,you would know what the founders, the appellate courts and SCOTUS  and say about sedition and dissent in the references  linked in Question 1.

That history reflect[s] a broad consensus that the Sedition Act, because of the restraint it imposed upon criticism of government and public officials, was inconsistent with the First Amendment.'' The ''central meaning'' discerned by the Court, quoting Madison's comment that in a republican government ''the censorial power is in the people over the Government, and not in the Government over the people,'' is that ''[t]he right of free public discussion of the stewardship of public officials was thus, in Madison's view, a fundamental principle of the American form of government.''

Yes I " cut and pasted " that. Unlike you, I dont lick the monitor. Dont worry the text or picture still stick.

I wish I could help you but I just cant seem to find a questionnaire that helps me "discover" the basis for my beliefs. I like to come to my own conclusions by thinking for myself.
