Join The Young Turks ~ ENOUGH!!

Tell them you've had Enough!  This Sunday and every Sunday at noon in your town.

I'm a neophyte - how do you post a photo? (none / 0)

Sorry to be lacking in some techie skills.  Had a good beginning group in Memphis today.  Expect a much larger contingent in the next few weeks as we get the word out.  Will post a photo when someone explains how!

Enough - Ann Arbor, MI (none / 0)

There were five of us in Ann Arbor today. My mom and her husband were visiting, and were very enthusiastic about joining our little group. All in the Family, don't ya know. (My wife had the camera - that's where our 5th is)

Federal Building - Ann Arbor

A few people stopped to talk to us. One guy clapped for us as he rode his bike past. A few people walked past, but pretended we weren't there or just wouldn't look us in the eye. Overall I'd say we got positive reactions.

 

I was hoping to see some other Turk listeners... I had been practicing my "of coooouuuuurrrssse" all morning, but no-one outside of my immediate family showed up.

 

It felt really good to get out and do something.

We'll be out of town next weekend, but if any other Ann Arborites want to show up the week after that, we'll be there.

I think the most effective sign is a picture of Bush with the simple message: Enough.

 Drugs?

I think the simplest, most effective way to get the message out is a picutre of Bush (and/or Cheney) with the clear message: Enough.

observations from Los Angeles (none / 0)
In Los Angeles today (June 22) we had another good turnout of about 30 people. Down a bit from two weeks ago, but not bad. There are a few things I find interesting. These Enough protests are supposed to be laid back, simple and casual, and in LA at least they have been.  Nevertheless, people come right on time, and dutifully take their positions in a line along the side of the road holding signs without even a leader to organize it.  Who says liberals can't take orders. This group is following  implicit orders that haven't even been issue.  

This week the protest was buttressed by a large turnout of the local chapter of an Impeach Bush/Cheney organization.  In the early stages of a movement, like the Enough protests, it's good to have supporters, and you team up to build a bigger movement. But I can see exactly how movements get disrupted by hijackings and in-fighting.  The Impeach Bush/Cheney group might have very different goals, styles and intentions than the Enough! group.  I can see one day some of the people from one of the factions getting frustrated with the other group and starting some conflict that eventually threatens the movement, or hijacks it entirely.  This is exactly how so many well-intended revolutions turned ugly throughout history.  (But for the record, I can't even see this problem on the horizon in the case of the LA protest, so everybody should still come and join in.  This observation is not intended to send a subtle message - it's just an observation.)

Greater LA has a population of something like 18 million people. If Enough! attracted 30 protestors, that makes you guys literally "one in a million".

"Might have"? They're called anarchists, and they have very different goals, styles and intentions than everyone else in America.

Tell those Impeach guys to get busy. They're rapidly running out of time.

I just learned about this tonight and hopefully can make it out to the Philly event tomorrow. It is inspiring to see so many people taking action.

We are planning a unique action in Congress when they come back from their vacation on September 4th and could use help spreading the word. Check it out at www.AmericaStandsWatch.org

Keep spreading the word, actions are spreading and it will take all of us saying "Enough" to end this war.
