News on Jill Pike and Absolute Truth

Some big breaking news from The Young Turks. A lot of you have been asking about Jill Pike and Absolute Truth. And there are some developments on both fronts.

First, Jill Pike has decided she will be leaving the show July 20th. This is not some sort of coded, media talk for we now hate each other and that's why she is leaving. We love Jill and I think she loves us back. I'm a sure she'll write here soon and tell you guys herself. As you know, it's not like she'll keep anything secret.

Jill started with The Young Turks what seems like an eternity ago. It has been about five years. We have worked together for so long I don't remember what it was like not to work with Jill. She has been a treasure for us.

Remember the filibuster for a filibuster? We did 99 hours on the air straight and Jill did 78 of those hours (same amount I did). She was there with me all the way. But even more importantly, when I asked everybody if they wanted to do it or if they thought we could pull it off, Jill was the first one to jump in. If it wasn't for her, I'm not sure we would have ever done it in the first place. And if it wasn't for her, we certainly wouldn't have been able to finish it. Her enthusiasm and passion carried us.

She has done everything for the show from booking some of the top guests in the country, to co-hosting the show, to producing Absolute Truth, blogging and countless projects behind the scenes. She was a tireless worker on The Young Turks. She is going to be missed immensely.

We are hoping Jill can do some segments for us from wherever she is living next. So, this won't be the last you'll see of Jill. Plus, we're like family, we've grown up together, so of course, she'll be back to visit, at the very least.

It was Jill's decision to pursue the career she left off when I corralled her into doing the show with us five years ago. I know from experience that she is an excellent producer, booker, etc. and we'll be at the top of her field in no time at all.

Now, with the departure of Jill, unfortunately we are going to have to retire Absolute Truth. She put the show together, produced it and hosted it. It's nearly impossible to pull it off without her. But we will continue to do entertainment clips of the day outside of the regular radio show. In fact, we will be doing a lot of clips on the website that are not part of the regular show. So, stay tuned for all of the fun, new developments on The Young Turks.

You know we are always developing new ideas and bringing you fresh material for the website. But these clips/short shows on the site will take us in an even bigger and better direction. We will be announcing some major media partners soon. Stay tuned.

this blows...... at least you finally gave us an update and I can cancel my plans to LA - my girlfriend thanks you Cenk.  Obviously no thanks on my part, I'm pissed and depressed after hearing the news - this sux big time!!!!

I really hope you come clean and let Jill honestly tell us what happened if she wants.  I thought 7/7/7 was suppose to be lucky?  I knew there was going to be bad news today...

"A bigger and better direction" without Jill - I don't think so!

C'mon, Rev.  Don't be a nay-sayer.  I'll miss Jill, too, but this could be an important next step for her.  She's 100% capable of moving on to greater things if she plays her cards right.  So, to Jill and remaining Turks, I say GO FORWARD.

Incidentally, 7/7/7 wasn't particularly lucky for me, either.  But I guess that balances out the comparitively good luck I usually experience on Friday the 13th (coming up next week).

Well, Rev. You are right that "this sux big time!!!!"

HOWEVER- I know that her extra-TYT/ 'Absolute Truth' were pretty important.

I had a hysterectomy at the ripe old age of 33, due to HPV.  While I didn't always agree with Jill 100% on the HPV vaccine debate, she was the strongest, most thoughtful voice out there (that I encountered, anyway.  And I really followed the debate).

Can you believe for a minute that she is not going to do amazing, wonderful things?  Getting up at 1 am & having TYT fans berate her was not good enough for her.  And Brittney & Lindsey were not good enough for her.  Walter wasn't good enough & that other guy wasn't good enough for her (I can never remember his name!)

Way to go, Jilly Jill!  Make us proud (like you always do!)!

Or maybe just in early stages of the grieving process.  You make a very good point when you said:
"Can you believe for a minute that she is not going to do amazing, wonderful things?"

I trust that she will continue to do great things, and OneHitKill, I don't mean to be a bitter nay-sayer - just  my gut reaction when I first heard the news....

She is certainly likeable as heck, but there have been times when I was yelling at the radio for her to stop talking and give someone else a chance. Ultimately, I think she'll be very successful at something other than being a broadcaster.
