Cenk: When Are You Going To Talk Sibel Edmonds?

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
There’s an explosive story not covered on purpose in the U.S. lamestream media about government corruption, treason, FBI cover-up, gagging a whistleblower, and harming U.S. national security by selling U.S. nuclear secrets on the black market to middle eastern countries including Turkey and Israel.

Mark Grossman of the State department warned the Turkish Embassy against doing business with (and blew the cover of) Brewster Jennings, Valerie Plame-Wilson’s front company.  Grossman will be testifying today before Waxman's House Oversight Committee.  Here is the pertinent background:

That's probably what most people seeing your subject line are thinking. That's also why I get much of my news from sources outside the US, like at Scoop in NZ, and Guardian/Independent in London. My subscription to the Financial Times of London, although absurdly conservative, has been a real eye-opener [and I'm hooked on their monthly magazine, "how to spend it"].

The lack of information about Sibel Edmonds when she first became a whistle blower from the FBI is a direct result of media consolidation in the US. The fault lies directly with Bill Clinton when he failed to prevent the FCC from allowing big media to become bigger. He was ignorant enough to appoint Michael Powell as director of the FCC and expect him to support diverse media, when exactly the opposite happened. With media consolidation, there are fewer investigative reporters working for newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, so less information leaks out to us. Will Hillary be as careless in her appointments?

Thank goodness for bloggers who have businesses with staffs doing investigative journalism, like Josh Marshall, Brad Friedman, Greg Palast and a few more hard working bloggers.

Good links, FTF!

both Bill and Hillary (and for that matter, arguably Obama).

It's one thing to "bring people together" to pass *good* legislation, but often times people who talk about knowing how to "get things done" end up bringing together the corpratists of both parties to  pass awful legislation.

The FCC Telecom Act of 1996 you referenced indirectly is an excellent example. And if that's what people point to as good bipartisanship, no thanks.

North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)

Both hurt working Americans and did little to help people who were/are out of work to find decent jobs. WWHD (What would Hillary do?)

Mahmud Ahmed former ISI chief  is fingered by Edmonds for his envolvement in the Nuke blackmarket.  Below is an article from the Times of India on Ahmads involvement in 9-11. You may remember Omar Shiek his buddy  as well. He was later tried and convicted (in a very closed trial) for the murder of CIA asset (and WSJ writer) Daniel Pearl.  Note the date.

So the FBI has been on to this and Ahned for 7 years.

IMHO The Edmonds revelations need the immediate attention of the nation but are getting next to zero. I will keep it going here with another blog on it.

So the FBI has known about this for 7 years.

FBI establishes ISI chief's links with Sheikh

NEW DELHI: Pakistani director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Mahmud Ahmed has been forced into retirement after FBI investigators established credible links between him and Umer Sheikh, one of the three militants released in exchange for passengers of the hijacked Indian Airlines plane in 1999.

The FBI team, which had sought adequate inputs about various  terrorists including Sheikh from the intelligence agencies, was  working on the linkages between Sheikh and former ISI chief Gen  Mahmud which are believed to have been substantiated.

Informed sources said there were enough indications with US  intelligence agencies that it was at Gen Mahmud's instruction that Sheikh had transferred one lakh US dollars into the account of Mohammed Atta, one of the lead terrorists in strikes at the World  Trade Centre on September 11.

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had also mentioned to British  Prime Minister Tony Blair about the specific links between IC-814  hijacking and September 11 terrorist attacks.

The Indian intelligence agencies had also shared several inputs about the linkages between the hijacker and the ISI chief with the  US and other western intelligence groups, the sources said.

Sheikh was among the three militants released by government after the IC-814 was hijacked to Kandahar in 1999. The other two were   Maulana Masood Azhar and Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar.
