Where is the PODCAST of South Carolina coverage???

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
Again, I come to the website and it's like nobody is at the wheel of this car.

It has been over 5 HOURS since the coverage began and there hasn't been a podcast file posted. &nbs p;The video is posted but many people who can't sit in one place (because of work, kids, life...) prefer to listen to thePodcasts.

Is there some sort of misucommunication about "members" getting all of the TYT.com content on podcast (it says this on the podcast page).

Last week I expected to find the podcast of the show where Sam Seder guest hosted The Young Turks. This was a TYT show made specifically for distribution on this very website (where I am a member) and you'd think I was asking for a copy of Bill O'Reilly's radio show! To quote Dave K:"I can't podcast Sam's show, go nothing to do with us."

Now that isn't my problem - that's TYT's problem. Who should have thought of arranging this before going on a road trip?

CENK: you aren't on AAR anymore and you need to focus on building this membership into something people turn to. As it is now it feels like distributing this content is an afterthought.

you're at a 10 you need to be at a 2. That being said, my recomendation would be to organize the website a little better.

(Forum Sherriff Medford Tim is away on assignment.)

Membership does not give you license to be rude.

If you have a problem with the production of the show, you can address the problem to Dave at producer@youngturks.com

This public berating is uncalled for. If you have any class at all, you will use the edit features, and remove this thread immediately.

I don't want you showin' yer face around these here parts agin, lessin' ya got friendly words of encouragement and good tidings. Got that, pilgrim?

I concur with bingobinbo and don't need to be told to STFU by a troll.

iano, I love you.

The audio of the complete South Carolina primary coverage was posted on the TYT members menu about 45 minutes after the show ended, that is posted before 11pm ET.  I did receive an email requesting that the Sam Seder show from Martin Luther King Day on Jan 21 be posted on the Young Turks website.  The Young Turks didn't even do a show on Martin Luther King Day, so if Sam Seder did a show on Jan 21, it should be found on his website.

And that's all I have to say about that.

producer@theyoungturks.com is better.  Otherwise, I thank our wise conservative troll.

I don't get frazzled by angry emails, so "Bring 'em on!".

I love TYT, which is why I just signed up for membership.  I don't have a ton of money right now.  My husband and I are trying to yank in the belts so $10/month is actually not just pocket change anymore.  For the last few years, after accruing too much credit card debt, I've been making a considerable effort to cut luxuries like fee-based podcasts and other subscriptions.  It may not seem like a lot of money to you young guys, but all due respect, it will if you don't get your business and marketing act together.  You sold me a product and I don't see it.  Make it work.  Quickly.

I look forward to hearing from the producer or Cenk personally in straightening this matter out.

Many thanks,
Therese

"It may not seem like a lot of money to you young guys"  Actually, I think $10 per month for a podcast is a tremendous amount of money, and I am grateful to each and every person who supports us by paying that subscription cost.

"I can't podcast Sam's show"

That is a true statement. Dave sold me a CD containing the first three hours of the show on election night 2004. He couldn't sell me the rest of the show, because The Young Turks were simulcasting with other Sirius Left people.

The first three hours were great:

"I want to see some red states called for Kerry. What's going on here?"

"They just called Florida for Bush. Now I'm getting scared."

But the next three hours would have been priceless.

Can we do this for the SC Primary?

by jarett on 01/27/2008 04:35:33 AM EST

You know, I'm really glad Dave wrote to say that he welcomes member comments. I think he can handle comments and I while I was public I don't read anything as rude. It was pointed and direct, a style often found on TYT.

KenTX, can you tell me why you think it is inappropriate to post comments about the TYT web broadcast on their own website commentary forum? Does Ken's logic sound ridiculous to anyone else besides me?

When individuals are separate and on their own to email in to ask "why is this?" TYT loses the strength of a group. Comments in isolation remain just that - isolated. I'm glad Dave welcomed the public feedback and I hope that more members will participate.

I took the word "membership" a bit more literally. I regard my yearly fee as an investment in building a more useful and responsive TYT. I'd like to see a members' forum discussion about how the new show format is working for people - and how it could be improved. Perhaps there are some other members who have similar hopes for TYT evolving and resp onding as a result of user feedback - especially now that we are expected to pay for it.

So...back to my original comment:  The member podcast page - right now, 1:45AM Pacific (4:45 AM Eastern) has no podcast posted beyond the Friday 1/25 show.
http://www.theyoungturks.co m/memberaccess/podcasting

The Saturday 1/26 South Carolina Primary coverage is simply not there. It isn't there now, it isn't on iTunes now and it wasn't in either place then.

The reason I am disappointed in the delay is because on 1/26 at 8:15 PM Pacific, when I left home for a 4 hour drive, I really wanted take the SC primary coverage with me in the car.  I checked iTunes and TYT member podcast page and thought it should have had portions posted as the show ran and at at a minimum a file posted after the show. The video was up, but not the podcast -  thus my public comment.

My comment about Sam Seder guest hosting on Monday 1/21 was based on this Blog post from Cenk
"In honor of Martin Luther King Day, we will be on vacation between Friday and Monday. We will be back guns blazing on Tuesday, with Sam Seder guest hosting."
http://www.theyoungturks.co m/story/2008/1/18/31627/301 2/Diary/On-Vacation-in-Hono r-of-the-King

I read it as "Sam is guest hosting for us on Monday and we'll be back on Tuesday" but I guess Cenk meant "co-hosting" on Tuesday. Oops, that was a bit unclear.

by bingobingo on 01/27/2008 04:48:13 AM EST

I don't know when it was posted, but if you look at the Members menu, you'll find the audio file you're looking for listed directly on the menu itself, with the rest of the election coverage files. It's halfway down the list.

You still can't download the video for the primary coverage, although you can now for the regular show (woohoo!).

KenTX wasn't objecting to posting a public complaint, he was objecting to being rude and nasty in public. On that count, I agree with him.

is invited to attack KenTX in as rude a manner as he pleases.

I enjoy forum fights. That's why I'm here.

Furthermore, bingobingo is invited to criticize the show. But please do it in a polite manner. Otherwise, I'll kick your ass (figuratively, of course).

Thank you.

Have a nice day.

I enjoy Ken TX and his comments, they often are the reason I come to this forum. Thanks for the pick me up about education a couple of days ago!

Actually, what I would like to comment on is that there seems to be a bit of dissention in the ranks when it comes to the whole member/service thing. As a non member as of yet, I am somewhat concerned that investing in the program might not give returns on the promises of membership. Y'all are probably more in tune as to how the show is doing (since I cannot listen as much as before) but I am getting a lingering feeling that the ship might be taking on some water.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

the partnership with BraveNewFilms!

People keep forgetting that part, and just focus on no more Air America.

As Robert Greenwald pointed out last night, the Iowa Coverage reached less than 8,000 people, but the New Hampshire coverage reached over 50,000!  I'd be interested to know what the numbers were last night (and if the fact that it was a Saturday night hurt or helped), but it's clear to me that overall, this is only going to get bigger.

PS---Consider the idea that people holding back membership money out of fear of the future of the show may well create a self fulfilling prophecy.

Thanks for your response, as usual, and I will still give TYT the time to establsh their sea legs, having only one co-hosting thing with Brave New Films under their belt, We'll see how Monday goes...

It better be good...

It doesn't cost much to join, and you can always drop out later if you become disenchanted.

Your contribution is used to support quality programming. Kind of like PBS.

Otherwise, conservatives like me will take over the world. Think kristalnaucht, without all of the beer drinking and jolly German oompah bands.

By the way, please don't be disappointed if you find yourself disagreeing with me in the future. I'm not here to agree with you guys. I'm here to entertain you.

Dave and I have arrived at the title Executive Resident Troll Producer, to accurately describe my contribution to the show.

I'm just a little disappointed that, since the change, I can't watch the show online the same day it airs anymore, because the video isn't posted until too late in the day.  I am curious whether this is a technical problem, or just something that will improve with time?  There may be others wondering the same thing, which is why the forum is a good place for sharing these things.  I just want TYT to be the best it can be, but I do realize that some things might take time to sort out.  I hope people consider signing up for membership with their "economic stimulus" checks.

by desertpear on 01/27/2008 03:35:34 PM EST

It's fine to have concerns and sometimes, to air them publicly.  But especially when you air them publicly, the the tone and choice of words should be well chosen IMO.

Regardless of (potentially) relevant content, the tone and choice of words were in fact poor in this case, again IMO.

PS---It was obvious (to me) that Sam Seder would be co-hosting on Tuesday. The idea that he would fill in on Monday didn't even occur to me, although I guess I could see how someone would make that mistake (and apologize for it if they mistakenly bitched about it publicly). :)

The coverage was great but a little dated now don't you think? Some of ya'll sound like some hatersz.

I have a complaint/suggestion that I would like to rudely interject.

Could we please restore a chat room to the site?  The Brave New Films moderated chat was maddening because.. well because it's moderated.
