Who are the members?

Who supports this show with their wallets?

I don't know if this is a no-no or not, but I would be interested to know who are the members, who are the producers, exec producers, etc.  Usernames would be all I would want to know.  I'm not with Cenk in saying use your real name.  Too much can be done with that (in a bad way).

In addition to knowing who I am talking to, I would also be curious to get an idea of what level of support this show has.

I would also like to know what it costs to be a producer or higher.  I'm sure it's listed somewhere on the site, but I haven't found it.

PS.  For those of you here who didn't like me in the past, I was elingfam.  Didn't expect to post here so I used a name I didn't really like.  Now it's changed.

Can't supply all the answers you ask, but you can tell what kind of support (I assume you mean listener support, not staff) the site is experiencing at any given time by looking on the right hand side of the home page in the Who's Online section. They may not all be members, but they are still supporting by their presence.

The financial questions should probably be directed to Dave, producer@theyoungturks.com I would hope he'll tell you that the membership roll is confidential, but what the hell? If you have a few hundred thousand laying around that you're looking to invest, everything becomes negotiable.

For more info on anyone in particular (if they have shared any), just click on their highlighted name in any thread and it will take you to their page.

Somebody didn't like you? Here? Why? Did you praise Reagan?

Really I was interested in having the information posted on the site. I might be wrong but if people saw that x amount of other people were supporting, it might make them more interested in supporting. And a thing like "if you give this much you will be a blankedy blank level supporter and announced on the cast might help.  I take this from my "the Nation" support and once a year they list who is really putting their money where their mouth is.

A ***REAGAN*** supporter????  Jesus!  I feel like the only person in America who feels like they hated Reagan back in the day.

I just know what it takes to support a new medium and would like to do what it takes to help.  I like this site because there are so few that talk the naked truth.

And I would like to give more but don't know what amount gives you what level of support.

One person in particular didn't like me because I said that if you get something you should be willing to pay for it.

MedfordTim is too modest to admit, but he donates $300 per month and eats tuna fish two meals a day to save money.

Go to "Control Room" and "Become a Member" to see what the various things cost.  The website needs some tweaking to be less confusing.  I'm a member, so I hope it helps.

And maybe I'm just a go-along-with-the-crowd kind a person, but the Nation lists their various levels of contributors and *I* want to be in that list!  Made me give more.  I just think I can't be the only person that thinks that way.  If the turks listed members and higher contributors it might make various potential givers more willing if they saw the crowd they were in.  :)

Never mind after this.  :)

It makes me want to give more too. I liked the Brave New Films method of letting people pay for a certain show and then showing the names of the contributors.  It's a great idea to allow frequent small donations and allows non-members to contribute.

TYT consider more public recognition for members.  Listing the producers was a good start.

I pointed to Democratic Underground where people who donate have a Star next to their username for all to see.  What do you think of something along those lines? The only possible downside is people feeling like they can't post if they don't have the symbol next to their name but as long as us members don't act like jerks about it, that shouldn't be a problem.

And it might encourage others to join.

I don't donate or anything (at least not yet), but I DO contribute annoying e-mails to the staff now and then.  I think having a list of the members on the site somewhere would be cool, or the star by your name idea that ihavenobias put forth (I just hope it doesn't turn out like that whole star bellied sneetches fiasco).
I'm also okay with nothing.  The sheer joy I get from watching the show is reward enough.
But thank you to everyone who does donate or join at the higher levels.  You keep the show rolling for the rest of our cheap asses, so WOOT WOOT!
