Wyoming sucks

Wyoming Caucus

Iowa was at least representative. Ron Paul took 5th in the Iowa straw poll, and didn't do any better\worse in the real thing...he took 5th in the caucus....with a semi-solid 10% of the vote.

Iowa Straw poll: Ron Paul took 9.2%

REAL Iowa Caucus: Ron Paul took 10%

 Fair enough...

--------------------------------------------------

Then there is Libertarian Wyoming where Ron Paul took a smashing 47% in the Wyoming straw poll. Romney has taken ALL the delegates so far today in the Wyoming Caucus. The people aren't even voting. They just have some random party people show up and give Romney his delegates.

I hope I'm not the only one who is annoyed by this.

My God...

Putin wins election with 99% of vote!!!!!

 yippie??

Is Mitt Romney supposed to be proud of himself for this? Wyoming was a fixed election. Even .0001% Duncan Hunter got a delegate. Paul got nothing, zip, nada in a Libertarian state.

Wyoming, who has given us Dick Cheney, doesn't matter much in the overall process.

Dude, Ron Paul is NOT going to get the Republican nomination. Stop investing so much mental anguish. Ain't worth it.

I know. I still think Mike Gravel is the best choice. He comes closest to my Liberaltarian philosophy.

Imagine my frustration at seeing Corporate Obama in the lead. Still, better than Bought And Paid For Hillary.

You're correct.

Fox News has chosen McCain to win this nomination, and I don't think anything can stop him...except for Ron Paul.

He's about the only thing our side of the isle has going for us...

I wouldn't say that.  There are always cyanide pills.

I'm really interested in the answer to this.

I don't follow the Democrats.

I really doubt Obama is anything less then what you think he is...a left wing Democrat.

Jarret, keep in mind that this is coming from the perspective of someone who would really like to see Mike Gravel (or at the very least, his positions and policies) be the person who speaks to the values of the Democratic Party - a party I have belonged to in the past, even to the point of being "elected" (no one else ran, there were MANY open spots) to be a part of the leadership in the county where I lived.

I am one of the few who believe Jimmy Carter was a GOOD president because of the values he espoused and the way he went about trying to solve problems. I find the same basic humanity in Mike Gravel.

I don't see it in any of the other candidates.

His stance on Iraq leaves much to be desired - by everyone except those who are profitting. His health plans don't go far enough toward single-payer. His energy plans don't hold the corporations responsible to the level they should. His campaign reform stances fail to contain plans which would effect real change. For all his rhetoric (and I admit; he gives good rhetoric), he is only slightly to the left of Hillary. I get the feeling that if push came to shove, he has the same sort of "pragmatism" that Bill Clinton had and would make deals that hurt people in the long run.

His voting record leads me to believe these things. The way I interpret things I hear him say lead me to this conclusion. Your results may vary.

...and I'd still vote for him without hesitation over any of the Republican puke inducers...

To have recently purchashed a large chunk of Southwestern Wyoming. Rumor around the campfire is somewhere in the 20,000+ acres range. Near a place called Lone Tree, Wyoming. Lots of Mo's in Wyoming, BTW. I expect he will take Idaho and of course Utah also. Here in Utah he has already been confirmed as the only candidate worth speaking of.

Mitt is the establishment favorite....but McCain has been chosen by the War Network.

....and Mitt doesn't have a chance in hell of being the nominee...McCain will be he.

Gosh I wonder why Mitt is so liked in Utah? heh

McCain wins the egoist award. God help us all of that guy is the nominee.

If Romney is knocked out of the race because a bunch of Buchanon-Perot nitwits get behind the candidacy of Mike Huckabee, then the only remaining alternative candidate is McCain.

In the end, the race will come down to Mike Huckabee versus "somebody else". Huckabee will keep his 30% of home schoolers and snake-handlers, and the rest of the Republicans will vote for "somebody else".

Man, I hate social conservatives.

...one step closer to the light...

I think back to the term "silent majority." I believe Ken just put forth the great unspoken truth of the vast majority of Americans of this day and age.

The "unspoken" nature is reflected in voter turnout - or, rather, voter turn off. When people get disgusted with both sides of a discussion, they tend to retreat to the video games and say "to hell with it."

The Huck is my #2 candidate although if Paul fails I'll probably follow the Paul ship via his third party run.

Having spent most of my life in pursuit of hedonistic debauchery, there is no way to allign myself with Mike Huckabee.

Furthermore, he is the Republican most likely to increase my taxes and bring all the troops home from the Middle East.

I can't find anything to like about this guy.

"bring all the troops home from the Middle East."

That's why I like him!

Of course there is one other Republican who is MORE likely to bring the troops home...and he's polling even with Huck in New Hampshire right now.

Where are you getting that Ron Paul took 47% in a Wyoming straw poll?  With or without Paul, I agree that this convention is wack!

by rev24 on 01/06/2008 07:46:04 PM EST

I just recall that number,....

I'll try to find it somewhere. I searched and I found this...but this isn't much good.
