Fanning the flames

With the spike in hot rhetoric by the McCain campaign, and the candidates tacit approval of hate-filled rhetoric by their supporters, they are creating and environment that is ripe for violence.

It's time for the media to start calling the McCain campaign on their latest desprate tactic of calling Obama a terrorist.  They are in effect saying to the unhinged people on the right that it's okay to feel Obama is an enemy.  If this keeps up it will lead to violence -- either in the form of a riot with injuries to Obama people, or with an assasination attempt on Obama.

Poll needs a little work there, buddy.  But here's what I think.  Will it lead to violence?  Probably not.  But if violence occurs, will the Republicans' role in causing it be recognized?  Hell yes, it will.

Keep things in perspective:  No high-profile assassination in American history was ever foreshadowed by so much speculation.  If someone is dumb enough to attempt an assassination after so much discussion has occurred, it will be virtually impossible to pin all the blame on one crazy lone gunman without recognizing McCain's role in the wrongdoing.
