Maverick? Or gluttonous government waste?

So of course, the debate about Palin's ethics violation might overshadow this argument... but whatever...

So here's the fundamental point that I don't think we are driving home strongly enough.

If Sarah Palin is such a "maverick", and has been decreasing government waste since her time as Mayor of Wasilla, how does the whole multiple redecorations of her office square with charging rape victims for their own rape kits.

Up to this point, I think the argument has focused primarily on women's rights, etc. But why has no one squarely asked her how she can claim a "maverick" low-government wasteful spending when she did these kind of superfluous wasteful spending activities.

There are the other issues with the Sports Park in Wasilla, which is supposedly a money-losing venture.

Where or when has Palin or the McCain campaign produced any comprehensive evidence that she has been dedicated to equitable and fair government spending.

She often quotes that she increased the redistribution of oil revenues to citizens as evidence of her "maverick"-ness. I think that's B.S. That's more of a pay-off of the constituency than anything else. After all, she managed to get an increase in revenues from oil companies, and then just pushed a small percentage of that money to the constituency. But what she actually did, was abolish a proposal that would have invested that money into a long-term fund for the state. So is the long-term future of Alaska not as important?

If Palin thinks that we "insist on asking the questions", that we should follow her advice, and find out just what exactly her spending history is. And what the impacts of her spending priorities would be for the United States of America.

The future of the United States is truly at stake...
