World Vote In Favour of Obama Winning Election

While surfing around on the net today, I came across a site where non-US residents living in countries all over the world, can vote during the US Presidential Election. I found this at the Economist.com . It hosts the Global Electoral Vote link which is provided below.

From what I have heard on this site, it appears that the world's opinion based on votes, has "some" real effect on the US elections. I'm not sure how that works (or if it is actually even true ... due to my own ignorance), but this shows interesting global results just the same.

In order to vote, you must (unfortunately) subscribe to receive at least one online subscription from the "Economist" editorial list.

Anyway, I went for it because I'm a sucker for punishment AND a couple months of possible spam, is a small price to pay to have a chance to change the world (starting with choice of a US President). If for no other reason, then it's worth the editorial registration for a chance to vote for Obama and to see what the rest of the world is really thinking about it right now (at least as indicated by this voting poll).

With exception to Georgia and Macedonia, which are only presently “leaning” towards John McCain (McCain/Palin), Barak Obama (Obama/Biden) is way ahead in the Global Electoral Vote (GEV).

Approximately ½ of the countries listed in the GEV, have not provided enough votes to make any determination of the popularity of either candidate, yet.

As it presently stands:

Votes for Obama  23,145
Votes for McCain    4,434

Global Electoral Votes for Obama  8,787
Global Electoral Votes for McCain  13

So far, it certainly appears that Obama has the majority of the planet on his side (for unspecified reasons). This result includes votes from countries that “in the eyes of the US”, are not generally associated as being friendly to USA. Not only are the results not even close, but in fact it appears more like a literal landslide for Obama.

See, even the whole damn world hates and/or fears McCain, whether they be considered terrorist or friendly states.

It is going to be such a beautiful morning and great day for the whole WORLD as well as for Citizens of the US on the 15th of October, 2008. A day that will go down in history for a number of significant reasons which I'm sure every level-headed, open-minded and modern day American is familiar with.

One of the likely many reasons for the world's popular vote for Obama, may be due to "the hope for Obama's likely-positive affect on World Peace and Stability." I'm sure the US's affect on Global Markets is also having a significant impact on global opinion regarding the US election.

Oct. 15, 2008 will only be trumped by Inauguration Day for Obama (and his family and political team) to the White House.

The World Will Celebrate With You !

PS> I realize that your election is actually on October 14th, 2008, but it won't be until the 15th that many feel the full impact of Obama's win or even know of his win depending what time the results are announced and where you are in the world. The first full day after an election, is the celebration day for everyone.

Yes Yes.. I actually did/do know that your election IS on November 4th. I had yet another Brain Fart resulting in me posting the date of the morning after the Canadian Election Date. However, my intent definitely was regarding November 5th/08.

This is embarrassing. But I'm used to Blurting out things that continuously illustrate my Adult ADD.

Anyway, my points still remain ... .please think like I might ... just PRETEND what I wrote was in fact the Correct Dates !!!

There will be a rapid recovery of the stock market.  No other event would mean so much to the world markets.
