Rethuglicans Are Stealing The Election

The Rethuglicans are organizing a nationwide effort to steal the election. The evidence is emerging everywhere, but especially in battleground states.

The theft is being committed by a little known Rethuglican organization named ACORN, Assorted Conservative Organizations for Rightwing Nutjobs.

It's happening in Indiana.

Indiana's top elections officer has asked the state attorney general's office and federal prosecutors to investigate allegations that perhaps thousands of fraudulent voter registration forms have been submitted in Lake County by an advocacy group accused of fraud in other states....

"We're still reviewing the evidence," Rokita said of the allegations in Lake County, which adjoins Chicago in the northwest corner of the state. "A criminal investigation, if this develops into one, is not going to be driven by election timelines. They're going to be driven by due process timelines." (more)

WTF? Indiana authorities are stalling prosecution when the election will be stolen in just a few weeks.

In Ohio, Rethuglicans are preventing the Democratic Secretary of State from investigating voter fraud by ACORN.

A three-judge panel of the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals put on hold an order from a federal judge that Democratic Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner institute the means to verify voter registration information and make it available to Ohio's 88 county election boards. (more)

Ohio Democrats are fighting back by suing ACORN.

The Buckeye Institute, a Columbus-based group, alleges ACORN has engaged in a pattern of corrupt activity that amounts to organized crime. It seeks ACORN's dissolution as a legal entity, the revocation of any licenses in Ohio, and an injunction against fraudulent voter registration and other illegal activities.

Plaintiffs Jennifer Miller of Mason and Kimberly Grant of Loveland claim ACORN's actions deprive them of the right to participate in an honest and effective elections process. They allege fraudulent voter registrations submitted by ACORN dilute the votes of legally registered voters....

Buckeye Institute President David Hansen said, "The right to cast a vote that is not diluted by fraudulent votes is a fundamental individual right." (more)

ACORN's Nevada office was raided to collect more evidence after ACORN submitted fraudulent voter registrations.

The submitted voter cards included addresses and names that do not exist in Nevada, duplicate registrations, names culled from telephone books and names of Dallas Cowboys players, an investigator for the Secretary of State alleged in his affidavit for a search warrant....

Agents removed 20 boxes of documents and eight computer hard drives from the ACORN office in "an ongoing investigation," said Secretary of State Ross Miller, a Democrat. "Now we begin the task of sifting through the material that was seized to determine how widespread any fraud might be." (more)

It is plainly obvious that the Rethuglicans are using ACORN to swamp and dilute the votes of Democrats in order to steal this election.

Since McCain was on tv today trying to tie Obama to ACORN.

I hardly think there is any systemic "voter fraud" taking place.

ACORN hires "day laborers" that get paid per  registration. They get lazy and fill in names like Mickey Mouse... Super Man .. Payton Manning etc.

ACORN is required by law in some states to submit every registration they gathered even though they may know some are fraudulent. The reasoning given by the states is that there may indeed be a person named Mickey Mouse out there and they dont want to deny them voting rights. So the states are the one with the burden of determining what names are real and what names arent.

This voter fraud thing is

A a great excuse the conservatives can come up with when they lose.  The election was stolen! They will scream.

B) Diversion from the real issues. They want to talk about ANYTHING but the real issues.

Its a red herring  and to be expected from a campaign that is in panic mode because they know they are going to lose.

You are 100% right that the ACORN thing is minor and a diversion.  Actual voter fraud is extremely rare in the US.

However, the purpose of Republicans raising the ACORN issue is much more serious than claiming that the election was stolen.  By feigning voter fraud, they are able to get Republican-appointed and often Liberty and Trinity trained judges to rule in their favor in cases where they can suppress votes on a massive scale.

A judge in Ohio just said that 660,000 new registrations must be verified against other state databases before those new voters can vote.  The state claims this will be impossible in the time available, so these voters might not be able to vote in this election.  There have been millions of voters in swing states (20% of all voters and 40% of black and hispanic voters in Colorado, for example) who have been purged from the voter rolls.

At this point, this problem could result in as many as 10% - 15% of the vote in swing states being suppressed, the vast majority of the suppressed votes are for Obama.

This problem easily could be big enough to give the Presidency to McCain if Obama goes into this election only 7 or 8 points ahead of McCain.

When McCain and Palin are elected to the Presidency they will say it is because of the Bradley effect rather than because of the voter suppression caused by the Republicans and their appointed judges.  At this point, this is by far the biggest obstacle Obama has from becoming President.

While we have proven the Bradley effect won't impact the actual results of the election, it's danger is it provides a smokescreen for altered results so that if conservatives steal a state/senate seat/congressional district they can say the exit polling is so out of whack with the result because the Bradley Effect.

I heard that ACORN employees are paid by the hour rather than per registered citizen.

In any case, the GOP has nothing on ACORN. Total non-starter.

But they want to deflect the attention away from their election-stealing efforts.
