Let's play the devil's advocate

I would like to launch a discussion where everyone tries to plays the devil's advocate. Basically, i will ask you to switch completely your position for this election and explain why you would vote for that candidate instead  of the other one. Try to be constructive if you can ;)

Hi all,

I would like to launch a discussion where everyone tries to plays the devil's advocate. Basically, i will ask you to switch completely your position for this election and explain why you would vote for that candidate instead  of the other one. Try to be constructive if you can ;)

So, i will start.

(Since my vote will go for Obama, i will defend McCain)

The experience factor

First of all, Senator McCain is a much more experienced man than Senator Obama. You may agree or not with some of his votes or positions. That's naturally up to you. But, none can't deny that McCain has been here for a while. He has seen the world, he has travelled a lot and knows what's going on.

There is no way you can compare the experience of someone like McCain with Obama's experience. Obama seems like a decent person, but we need more than just a "decent person" to face today's challenges. He still needs to experience more what the political life is, and what it is to take hard decisions quickly.

Think about it for a second. Obama likes to "brag" about the fact that he has judgement. For example with the Iraq war, he keeps bragging that he had the "judgement" to see that it was a wrong war.

What senator Obama doesn't understand is that when you are a president, you have to take sometimes very hard and very risky decisions with very limited informations. When you take them, you have to live with them. That's what makes a good leader.

It is easy for someone like Obama who never took a hard and risky decision to blame others of taking a bad decision.

Yes, McCain has made some mistakes, but who didn't ? This is exactly what makes McCain a more experienced person that Obama. You can't get better if you don't do mistakes.

The economic issue

Some pleople blame McCain and/or the GOP for the situation we are living today. I sincerely believe that's an unfair conclusion to make.

Yes, there were some abuses, yes some of the deregulations laws didn't help. But, in a crisis like this one, it isn't only a single or a group of few factors that had triggered the crisis.

If the reasons of the crisis were that easy to identify, why the economists didn't foresee it ? Why we never heard about it before ? Everything crashed without anyone knowing what was going on exactly.

Think about it for a second, even the most eminent economists of the country couldn't foresee what would happen.

I highly believe Obama is exploiting and manipulating the public opinion on that matter. He has seen that the polls favor him when he keeps associating McCain with the economic crisis, and he is exploiting it as much as he can. But, if you look deeply at Obama's plan, he isn't giving any decent or good answers to today crisis. Again, it is easy to criticize others, but what does Obama exactly suggest to fix it ?

The obama we have seen during the campaign is someone who has just been arguing over and over the same thing. He is exploiting people's frustration of the actual government, he is associating McCain to the current gouvernment.

I will ask a simple question to the people who wants to vote for Obama. Do you really vote for him because you think he is the best ? Or, are you voting because you are pissed off the current gouvernment and disapointed by the current president ?

If your answer is the second one, that i highly suggest you to reconsider. Because, McCain isn't Bush !

Don't let Obama brain wash you !

I will give him credit for using a smart tactic to get elected, but I am not going to vote for someone only because he is using a smart trick / tactic to get elected.

Think about it, when he will have to take those hard decisions, is he going to say again... Oh that's not my fault, that's the GOP fault ?

Mr Obama is a good man but he needs more experience before leading a country like ours.

As President? Experience is trumped by judgment and temperament. McCain lacks on both counts.

Is that good enough?

If you think so much of experience, let Cheney run.

Empathy is a liberal trait. Any con that showed signs of it would be rushed to the hospital (R reeducation center) and have it removed immediately.

Let's get these crooks out of office and good riddance before letting our focus soften.

Even as late as 2004, too many people didn't take elections seriously.  Bush and his Republican friends, who have done more to damage our country than any enemy in our history, were allowed two terms.  During that time they have caused not only the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people, but they have prevented us from taking actions which could allow our children to prosper.  The polar ice caps are melting, the northern one may disappear shortly, the economy is collapsing, we're sacrificing our young in Iraq for nothing, and now you want to play a game.

No.

I'm in this for real, and I'm not playing around.  Millions of people have given their lives for our country, but now the Republican Party is willing to sacrifice other peoples' lives for the benefit of a filthy few.  I don't want to play.  I want to fight, although I pray to God that the only thing we have to do is to win a few political campaigns.

I am a typical low-information voter.  I watch about 45 hours of TV per week, shows like Dancing with the Stars and Dog Whisperer.  Every once in a while (maybe an hour per month) I will turn to Fox News to see if they have any of the girls with the miniskirts on.  They told me that Obama is a terrorist.  They also told me his middle name is Hussein, so it must be true.  Even though most people have forgotten about it, I still remember 9/11.  Given what they did to us on 9/11 and that we are fighting them in Iraq, why would I vote for one of them for President?  That doesn't make any sense.

McCain and Palin is not just the best choice, it is the ONLY choice on Nov. 4.  That is, if I am able to get to the polls that day.  Tuesday is my bowling night.
