Pat Buchanan schooled on HARDBALL

Chris Matthews hosted a special Sunday HARDBALL today and two of his guests were Joan Walsh and Pat Buchanan.  They commented on Gen. Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama today and Rep. Michelle Bachman on Hardball last Fri day when she yanked the horror of Joe McCarthy out of the grave with demands for the media to conduct loyalty investigations into members of Congress.   Coo-coo for coco-puffs.

Pat really looked like a fool.  I hope Rachel schools him too, and not very nicely.

Really kids, you think that is the ONLY REASON one might have for supporting Obama over McCain?  REALLY?  Because Powell listed all the things that I despise about the McCain and Palin ticket, any one of which would be important enough not to vote for them.  Despicable.

How does that explain all of us whiteys supporting Obama?  Traitors to our race?

I think both arguments are valid, saying that the Republican brand and this particular campaign (McCain) has soured it further, but reality must be adhered to in saying that General Powell was only looking out for General Powell by making this endorsement NOW and in the manner in which he did so...

To think otherwise is just being dishonest...

You are the last person I would trust with determining someone's motives, since you are so blatantly racist yourself.  You obviously can't even imagine a person not being racist, and if they don't admit it, then it's because you know something about them they don't know. It's ridiculous. A man of this stature would not make a decision based solely on race.  and like I said, there are so many many OTHER reasons to endorse Obama over McCain and a possible Palin presidency, such as fear for your country!!

But its just patently silly to think that the race factor didnt play a part in this, pear!! Use some damn common sense - you're supposedly a scientist, so you must have some sort of brain!!!

I think that General Powell in coordination with the Obama campaign has planned and executed this strategy PERFECTLY - hell - I complemented them on that in the other thread!

i am sure General Powell has reservations about supporting Republicans after they basically hung him out to dry after he left office!!! (As I said previously) -

Why is it automatically racist to believe that the mans race DOES have something to do with this? Do you think general Powell is gonna make any money on the speaking tour or from whatever book he plans to write if he DIDNT come out for the first African American President????!!!! YOU ARE FUCKING INSANE if you think he would! he would be lower than whale shit and Clarence Thomas on the "Respectable" African American Lists!!!!

Pear, this isnt hard to understand - I think its a great thing that General Powell has endorsed Senator Obama - I think it will help some undecideds choose - but please understand that race WAS a factor, if not the MAJOR factor, of this decision and its timing...

As a former Republican myself, my first thought was "I hope the 30 pieces of Silver were worth it", because to the Right Colin Powell is the new Judas - Im sure Bill Richardson is glad he no longer holds the "new' title!!!

I suppose the Republicans sending Powell on international TV with a bag of lies they called intelligence and some drawings more fit for the art department on the new James Bond movie couldn't have anything to do with Colin's change of heart?

If you want to talk about betrayal, how about the number the GOP did on Powell?

except for the whole McCain Jesus thing. Powell got screwed by the GOP and the Bushies, so he has in turn retruned the favor. Please read my other postings on the subject for furthewr clarification - I hate repeating myself because you cant keep up!

Then we can discount any MALES that endorse either McCain or Obama, because IT IS SIMPLY IMPOSSIBLE to eliminate sexual bias in their endorsement.

Bobo, of course race plays a factor, but so do about a million other things that one might think about, but that might not actually affect your behavior.  Like whether or not Obama has a dog, or whether Palin has a sense of humor.

Do you understand this?  Because this is what I am trying to say.  We enter the 21st Century by trying to separate our biases from our behavior as a first step.  I believe that Colin Powell is smart enough to be able to do that.  Why shouldn't he be proud that an African-American might be president?  I certainly am, but I am white.  If Obama was some sort of douchebag, he would not have endorsed him.  If you agree with that statement, then your hypothesis is incorrect--race did not matter enough to influence his behavior.

understand the concept because he and the rest of the Limbaugh far right extremists will vote for McCain simply because he is white.
