Mugging of McCain Supporter - Story is a Hoax

The story that wingnuts are in a total uproar over?  It's a hoax.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Police say a campaign volunteer confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter B in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.

At a news conference this afternoon, offiicals said they believe that Ashley Todd's injuries were self-inflicted.

Todd, 20, of Texas, is now facing charges for filing a false report to police.

Todd initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.

Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.

Authorities, however, declined to release the results of that test.

Investigators did say that they received photos from the ATM machine and "the photographs were verified as not being the victim making the transaction."

This afternoon, a Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Todd confessed to making up the story.

When i first saw this story break out i noticed that the B was backwords and that seemed funny to me. It makes sense now this idiot used a mirror to help her cut the B in her face but didnt realize the B would face the opposite way. Jeeze what a rookie move...

When I saw where she is from.

College Station, TX.  A 20 year-old from College Station is a college student at A&M, or what we call around here an "Aggie".  A breed of citizen who looks up to Bush's lofty IQ.  A group of people so immune to logic they are ruled by a dog and its dead ancestors.  A gaggle of idiots so parochial they find it perfectly acceptable for their quasi-military organization to attack opposing cheerleaders with swords drawn.  A clan so conservative they shun their own star black athletes.

The idea that this girl is a "liberal plant" from A&M is laughable on its surface to anyone who knows the area at all.  Right Ken?

Ahahahaha

So, your take on this has nothing to do with the fact that you are hardcore UT or anything like that, right?

I remember that game from the early 90s, at College Station, UT beat A&M, UT fans rushed the field, and the cadets surrounded the A&M goalpost to protect it. Symbolism as a substitute for complex reality.

That whole sword drawing thing has become a tradition at A&M, starting in 1926.

The sabres need to be taken away from them. They obviously aren't bright enough or responsible enough to carry them as a traditional accessory, so they need to lose that privilege.

But let me put this in terms that a traditionalist that values symbology will understandL: They have repeatedly used the sabre dishonorably and have lost the right to carry it. How's that?

For the rest us: I think we all already know that you can't allow morons to handle sharp objects. Talk about a bunch of half-bright douchebags.

We all saw what Ashley Todd (Aggie and moron) did with a sharp object.

And just for those outside the great state, aside from pulling swords on UT players (I believe it was Mike Adams), the Ags also felt the need to draw weapons to defend their precious stupid dead dogs buried in the endzone field from the SMU cheerleaders.  Girl cheerleaders.

Dear God, if you need weapons to defend your house from the damn ponies, you suck!

And these were the mid-90s Mustangs, not the Dickerson/Craig James Pony Express.

Man, how I wish you hadn't brought up the A&M angle. I read that she was an Aggie is the news reports, but I let it go. And then you brought up the sabre drawing BS. It reminded me of how much I can't stand A&M.

Ever notice that the swords are dwawn only after an A&M loss? I remember a psychological study of sports fans some years ago. The experiment monitored the self-esteem levels of fans before and after wins and losses and observed that their concluded that their was a direct correlation.

As a Cubs fan, I never developed this kind of psychology. For generations of us, being a Cubs fan has never been about winning. i wasn't at all phased by the play-off sweep last month, or the otherwise heart-breaking  ( to those newer cubs fans who don't get it) play-off choke a few years ago. But my heart will be broken when they tear down Wrigley Field. Actually, I was a little depressed when they put up lights and started playing night games at Wrigley. And then the death of Harry Carey. Love that neighborhood and the whole lazy summer afternoon of afternoon baseball - that's really baseball to me.

Cubs fans don't freak out and try to run you through when the Cubs lose. A&M = whiney little bitches with pretend pirate swords and Star Trek costumes.

If anywhere near Wrigley Field in the middle of the afternoon, say around 7th-inning stretch time, and you're quiet for a minute, you can still hear the echo of him singing, "...and it's one! Two! Three strikes..."

He knew what was important.

First, if you are a Cubs fan and you let your team losing affect your self-esteem, all sharp objects should be kept away from you at all times.

Maybe this girl's freakout was caused by the Aggie football team.  If the Horns started playing like that, I might have a similar meltdown.  I hate to talk shit about a team who has beat us twice in a row, but they are just terrible this year.

If anyone cares, Texas gets another top 11 team this week.  I think we will win, but I am definitely nervous.  Either way the boys have to go up to Lubbock next week and that is kind of the Longhorns own private hell.

Love the Star Trek costume line.

Last thing.  Right before my last year of college, my two roommates and I jumped in my Saturn Coupe and drove from Austin to St. Louis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Chicago again, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Dallas and back home.  It was 3000 miles and we saw seven Major League Baseball games in seven days.  It was awesome!

In Wrigley we saw the Cubs take a 1-run lead into the 9th.  Raul Mondesi hit a two-run homer for the Dodgers to make it 2-1.  With two outs in the bottom of the 9th, Sosa hit a two run walk-off jack.  It was fucking magical.  Then we went drinking in Wrigleyville and left at about 1am for Minnesota.  It was a great night.

Incidentally, on that trip, the Tigers-Royals game was won with a walk-off hit (and a kickass fireworks celebration because of it) and the Yanks-Twins went 15 innings.  Knoblauch was playing 2b for the Yanks and me and my buddies screamed Aggie taunts at him all game (we were in the third row, even with 2nd base.) He definitely heard us and seemed annoyed/bemused to hear us Horns fans.

For the last game of the trip, David Wells threw perfect for six innings until getting rocked in the 7th.

Good times.

Possibly one of the best example of psyched-out head case in the history of sports.

I was torn between feeling immense sorrow for him, but at the same time felt contempt for him that he didn't have the psychological strength to pull his own head out of his ass.

In the end, I guess I feel sorry for him that he hit that wall and  should just be happy that it wasn't me whose psychological failures were exposed to all of history.

By the way, shouldn't Knoblauch be a Right Wing hero for nailing Olberman's Mom in the face ?  O'Reilly, "Is it Chuck Knoblauch's fault that her face look's like a 1st Baseman's mitt? Hardy-Har Har"

I felt sorry for Knoblauch.  Before the great freakout, he was simply one of the great leadoff men in the history of the game.  Up there with Biggio and Ricky Henderson.

Come to think of it, our relentless 15 inning heckling of Chuck was not long before the freakout.

Hmmmm...

When I originally read the story, I looked at her face and thought,"Why the hell would someone carve a backwards B in someone else's face when that's WAY harder to do than carving a regular B?  A mentally unstable person would do this in a mirror thinking they could pass the story off..."  sure enough...

Not to mention it was the classic,"6'4" Dark skinned African-American".  I was also thinking..."Black people are trying not to blow this by being nignorant"

I denounce and reject myself for the creation of the word "nignorant"

Whenever I hear the Republicans warning of a huge shitstorm when the black man <shudder> gets elected, I can't help but think of all the Y2K hype.  It's going to be just like that.  Obama will be elected, people will go on with their lives.  Yes, there will be kooks, but there have always been kooks.  That's why he have to put up with cops.

Y2K was an example of when governments and businesses see a problem and actually work towards fixing it, what can be done.

I love how people think because not much went wrong with Y2K that there really was no problem to be fixed.

No what happened was, this nation, and governments around the world spent billions, and people worked millions of hours to make sure nothing happened.

I just thank god Bush was not in charge before Y2K because then we would have had the crash people worried about.

White people go to school
Where they teach you how to be thick

Of people rich enough to buy it

While we walk the street
Too chicken to even try it

Everybody's doing
Just what they're told to
Nobody wants to go to jail.

I can't wait til we get out first Turkish president, I'ma be wylin out with all my Turkish brothas and sistas. We will party for 40 days and 40 nights in celebration of the Whitehouse being painted olive.

With a Turk in the Whitehouse there is no doubt in my mind that all the floors will be covered with Turkish carpets and chickens will run free on the Whitehouse lawn. All US made towels will be replaced with the finest Turkish towels from Bursa and there will be a new rule that people must take their shoes off before entering the "house."

The west wing will be turned into a harem and George Washington's portraits will be replaced with those of Suleyman the Magnificent and a big 'ol "Mashallah" sign will hang above each door along with a blue evil eye charm.

And Friday nights there will be backgammon hour at 10pm;)

Peace.

But don't worry.  We have never expected you to admit when you are wrong, much less to apologize for it.  That would be taking responsibility for your mistakes, a characteristic with which you seem to be completely unfamiliar.

It's kind of grotesquely symbolic of the whole McCain campaign, isn't it?  Black and blue marks all over, head hanging in shame, with a great big "B" indelibly carved across it, not by Obama or his supporters, but by the actions of McCain/Palin and their followers.

by bfaul on 10/24/2008 04:38:22 PM EST

She should do hard time for tying up resources and jeopardizing the freedom of innocent "dark skinned" black men. The dumb broad might have gotten away with it if she carved an O  and cut deeper...or had a plausible story for that matter. I'm glad she isn't too bright.

This is not really a story because one person being mugged or an idiot pretending it was an Obama supporter is just a story about one person.

What is interesting that when it was apparently an Obama supporter there was a lot on the right who were insinuating this represents a large number of Obama supporters.

Now that it turns out to be a crazy McCain supporter these same people will not say it represents a large number of McCain supporters.

It is of course a one off nutter, both sides have idots.

Of course the McCain supporters have a larger percentage of idiots :-)
