TYT Election T-Shirt Give Away Contest

The Young Turks will be giving away t-shirts in our Election Day Contests. Learn about the first contest by reading more below. And check the other giveaway too.

The Young Turks will be giving away t-shirts in our Election Day Contests.  The first contest requires that you list the top five states, in order, where Obama will win by the largest margins.  Please list your guesses in comments to this post, and after election results come in, The Young Turks will pick three winners from all who guessed the correct lists.  We'll then contact the winners to send out the t-shirts.

As a guide, here are the top 5 Kerry states in 2004 with the percentage of the vote:

  1. Massachusetts 62%
  2. Rhode Island 60%
  3. New York 59%
  4. Vermont 59%
  5. Maryland 56%

Now, what will be Obama's top five states? (Listing percentages is not required to qualify.)

Please check out the other contest too. (All rulings and decisions about this contest are subject to the discretion of The Young Turks.)

Washington DC would be No1 if we were to count it.

But limited to states:

1. Hawaii
2. New York
3. Vermont
4. Maryland
5. Illinois

HI & IL are Obama's home states.
NY has been hit bigtime by the financial meltdown and is obviously überliberal (except some upstate bits, I grant you).
VT was Obama country in the primaries, whereas RI was not, so I went for VT over RI.
MD is highly educated and has lots of AAs.

MA was Kerry's home state, it has lots of white Catholics and Obama underperformed there in the primaries, so I pushed it out of my top5.

Anyway, RI and MA really have the potential to mess up my top5. This was a tough list...

What about McCain's top5?

1. Utah
2. Oklahoma
3. Wyoming
4. Idaho
5. Alabama

I think McCain's list is a lot easier (though I could of course be as wrong on these).
