PEANUT BUTTER ALLERGY STORY

That Peanut Butter story in the Entertainment segment on Friday really pissed me off.

Where in hell does Ana get off suggesting he should only get a few days in prison!? This asshole says to himself "Huh, this guy has an allergy, which I know could kill him (because everybody, even fucking Sarah Palin, knows peanut allergies can be lethal), so what I'm gonna do is smear it all over him.

This asshole should get thrown in the clink for as long as he would for attempted murder. I would throw the fucking book at him, and a jar of peanut butter afterwards. This is like taking a gun, and shooting a dude with it, knowing it could kill the person. So if you shoot the guy, and the dude survives, its the exact same situation.

The main factor is that he KNEW the guy had an allergy. It's premeditated attempted murder. Doesn't matter if the assailant's weapon is a gun or a clump of peanuts

How would you feel, Ana and Cenk, if you learned that some knucklehead kid fucking murdered someone you love with peanut allergies by smearing peanut butter on them?

subdued if it had been arsenic instead of something lethal to only a select few.

...and we really try hard to not put children in prison.  It tends to fuck them up for the rest of their lives, doing more damage than good.  Besides, we've also learned so much about human development that we understand that measuring children's behavior by adult standards is not only irrational but unfair to the child.

While you might consider severe retribution to be appropriate for an adult (I don't, by the way; I just want criminals out of the way and re-educated for their eventual re-emergence into society -- I don't necessarily want to inflict pain and suffering on them.  It seems counterproductive), that same level of punishment cannot be considered appropriate for a child.
