Protesting Sarah Palin

Why are people not flooding the streets and protesting Sarah Palin?  This simply blows my mind.

This isn't a "I'm progressive, and Sarah is a conservative, republican freak who wants to overturn roe v wade" thing.

This is really really scary. It's clear, to EVERYONE, that Sarah Palin is not fit to lead. She is not president material and NEVER NEVER NEVER will be.  She can't name 1 magazine? 1 supreme court case? BLATANTLY not fit, intelligent, or knowledgable to be our president.

There are so many smart people in America. So many people who are so smart that, without any political experience at all would make a decent president.  They are capable of complex thought, think outside the box, add in all the factors, and make a rational decision.

What bothers me is this. NOT that millions of idiots love her. She has (some) charm.  Is charm all it takes these days to get away with being

It's that we are not protesting her. YES. The good old American right to protest things we disagree with.  I know that pretty much only hippies protest these days. But for this we NEED to protest.  How are we allowing her to EVEN RUN.

Everyone is complaining about how stupid she is. It's painfully obvious she is DUMB.  Even if you support the republican ticket, how can you support her.  As crazy as mccain is, at least he has the experience and has some tact at dodging questions. Palin is to dumb to do that.

We need to protest in epic proportion. We need to march to D.C. and say we don't want a fucking idiot for president (again).  We cant afford to be complacent about this.

It would only serve to strengthen her base.  They are just waiting for us to attack her, but we have to focus on McCain.  She's like their "Vagina Shield".  She wants to put her in front and deflect all the attacks with her, but the attacks need to be focused on McCain.  Trust me, I'm all for protesting, so if anything you should be protesting that McCain supported Torture.  I don't ever want to quell dissent, but if you are serious about protesting, you must realize the consequences of attacking Sarah Palin.  We're going to have to wait until after Nov. 4th to really unload on her.

It is unbelievable there is no organized protest to stand up against this completely irrational / incompetent ticket.

Chris, I disagree with you....This is the right time to stand up against Palin. The ticket McCain/Palin weakness is based on age / incompetence. We should keep pointing out there is a true reality Palin will be our president within 4yrs if this ticket is chosen. We should keep hammering on not getting all information about McCain's health (heck all commercial airline pilots are being examined every 2 yrs. with full disclosure). He is 72, I have seen many people die in my immediate environment between 72-76yr old.

Palin is an even more dangerous follow up as president. We should keep reminding people about this. If they are not in favor of a religious witch hunting, environmental polluting, tax haven person who will take away rights from woman that have been fought for decades, McCain/Palin is the wrong ticket.

No time can be wasted bringing up all these facts. There is no better time to confront people about the worse choice they can ever make.

But I also don't think protesting is very effective. Talking to people and getting them out to vote for Obama/Biden or just getting people out to vote at all are better strategies, IMHO.

On the other hand, I sympathize and marched in LOTS of protests prior to and early in the Iraq war. It was frustrating to see no affect where it matters.

McCain's selection of Palin is just another painfully cynical action by Rs. It's not only horrible that they feel empowered to do such things but that as a group they have no conscience. Can they actually think that what they do is building a better country for the future or do they just not think about it?

But I think you guys are underestimating the Right's desire for us to attack her.  It doesn't matter if we have a legitimate reason for attacking, they will say,"Look how they treat this Hockey Mom", and a bunch of disgruntled people who get treated like shit will empathize, and be energized to vote again.  I really do think that talking to individuals is the best way to attack palin.  If you're going to protest, protest McCain.  I'm not trying to be a contrarian, I'm just going off their playbook.  The reasons they brought her in are to get women/disaffected hillary voters/extreme righties/people who want to side with the underdog.  Attacking palin energizes at least two of their target groups, maybe three.  It's not just about the protest, it's about the results of the protest.  If you protest palin, and energize more of their base than the amount of converts you get, then you hurt your own cause.  Protesting has its place and time, but like I said, I'm not just being a contrarian on this one.  Protesting Palin alone is a mistake.  At least include McCain, or protest McCain alone.  They are literally waiting for us to attack Palin.  If anything, you need lots of WOMEN to protest Palin, otherwise it will be called sexist.  If you want to avoid the sexist card being pulled, you literally have to play your own sex card, check out this palin protest.

The best thing Biden did Thursday night was ignore Palin and train his fire on McBush.

Pundits and political junkies don't get it because McCain being a joke of a candidate is old, well-trod ground for them and Palin is fun and new and (apparently over) exciting.

Undecideds are about six months behind us and are tuning in to find out about McCain and Obama.

It went like this.

Palin spoke to the base.

The pundits spoke to us junkies.

Biden spoke to the swing voters.

Don't believe me? Look at the numbers.
