So with the stock market and the McCain campaign in a remarkably coordinated free fall, what's the best strategy for the McCain/Palin ticket?
Obviously, go the flailing, smear, fear, guilt by association card. When you are out of ideas, and the major issue of the campaign (that pesky economy thing) is something you have no clue how to deal with, simply link your opponent to terrorists and scary America haters.
What a desperate, last gasp ploy. McCain is sending out Sarah Palin to launch these ridiculous attacks, when she has no credibility outside of the crazy right wingers who are going to vote for them anyway. The American people aren't going to take her seriously. And, if McCain takes up these kind of attacks himself, he loses whatever little bit is left of the maverick, above the fray, different kind of politician persona that he spent his entire career crafting. It's not going to work this time. Americans have the seen the results of falling for this kind of politics for the last eight years. Not going to happen.
