Just Foreign Policy Iraqi Death Estimator

Over half of these million plus people who have died, due to the Illegal US invasion, are women and children.

Just today I was thinking how every killed and wounded soldier affects so many others--their friends and family members.  So even 50 deaths means 1,000 lives affected.  So sad.  so sad.

have you heard the entire thing? I thought it would suck because it was overtly political, but I was wrong.

I need to listen to more.  It takes me a while to warm up to new albums sometimes.

I am a Pock-i-stahn-i sitting in Pock-i-stahn right now. It so happens that Senator Obama pronounces my beloved country's name properly. You can be proud of your intellectual bankruptcy while gulping down your Coors. These are precisely the arrogant and ignorant attitudes of many Americans that are going to cost America its scientific, cultural and economic supremacy.

Sorry, but I'm going to get all pedantic here and point out that there may be more than one correct way to pronounce a foreign place name. We don't say "Par-EE, Fronce", do we? No, for English speakers, it's "PAR-iss, France", rhymes with dance. Similarly that long skinny country in South America is properly called "CHILL-y" by Anglophones, not "CHEE-lay". For an English pronunciation of Pakistan, try this.

I bet most of you say it this way. Shahzad: Love ya but you're being a dick here.

I actually can't help but pronounce Chile "CHEE-lay" either.  I guess when you have heard a country pronounced a certain way, it sticks with you whether wrong or right.  I guess it sounds pretentious to some.  I get your point, but Shahzad was not being a dick--he was responding to other comments that were accusing Obama of mispronouncing Pakistan, which is not true.

Relative to your post and some of the comments I'd like to recommend an excellent article written a while back by Noam Chomsky called "Good News", Iraq and Beyond.  This article provides a scintillating analysis and view point of hawkish sentiment in the Middle East and in the U.S..  Enjoy
