The "token" black guy in the McCain angry rally

"James T. Harris, a local African-American talk show host, stood and said, "I doubt that anyone in this room has taken, pardon me, the ass-whuppin' that I have taken for supporting you. Sir, I believe that in the next coming debate it is absolutely vital that you take it to Obama and that you hit him where it hits (sic)." The crowd exploded. "ACORN is out there, we have Reverend Wright, all of these shady characters that surrounded him. I am begging you, sir." McCain told the man that he would take his advice—but that he also will offer a "positive plan of action" to address the financial crisis." http://www.sla te.com/id/2201951/

What I am amazed about at that rally is the local "token" African American radio host told McCain to go after Obama. I am not suggesting he should vote for Obama because Obama is black, but McCain's policies are absolutely horrible and I can't see black people or any other races supporting it. And with the crowd shouting "terrorist" with the racial undertones, this sellout is at the McCain rally with the majority of racist who hates negros. But I guess they love the "token" uncle Tom.

That would seem to be a racist statement, calling someone an 'Uncle Tom.'  Claiming because someone who is black doesn't vote for a Black/Democrat/your-way is an 'Uncle Tom' is pretty bad.  Suggesting a black voting for McCain is  like a Jew voting for Hitler is quite the stretch as to be imaginary.  To simply discount an opposing opinion and suggesting that by even listening to that viewpoint for open discussion is more Hitleresque than anything you are suggesting by voting Republican.  Disagreeing with an opposing opinion is fine, but to suggest racist slurs and insults for choosing an opposing position is elementary school behavior.  Check your own attitude for bias before judging others.

If you weren't pimping a guy who is a admitted racist.

That kind of blows the whole thing up, doesn't it?

I have backed by comments with sound references.  If you are a Prof, as your name entails, please give said references for the man you suggest is a racist.

I can give you plenty for Rev. Wright, but that would be insulting to suggest he isn't due to the preponderance of evidence.

The same goes to Rev. Pfleger.

Or, how about:

"It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks' greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere... That's the world! On which hope sits!"

- Barack Obama, "Dreams of my Father," 293.

However, based in this info, are you speaking of Obama with your comment?  Then I would possibly agree with you.

Is McCain an admitted racist?

You're damn straight he is.

How did you not know this?

Let me give you some friendly advice.  Rolling on her like your God's gift to the blogosphere cuase you catch Hannity on the radio AND the TV is just gonna get you bitchslapped.  You need to come with much better game than you are bringing.

I am assuming you agree with the rest of my analysis of America's choice?

Good.

As for my nic, in 2004 I started listening to the Turks.  They took a lot of callers and I called in quite a bit.  I usually tried to talk about historical context of current things.  Once, when I was explaining the parallels between the Iraw occupation and the occupation of Cuba in the Spanish-American War, I believe it was Ben called me Professor Rich.  From then on whenever I called I was Professor Rich in Austin.

I am a teacher, but not a professor.  I was on track to become one but decided I didn't want to spend my life researching and publishing papers no one reads.  I enjoy teaching, so I teach high school history.

I try to explain that every once in a while because I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking I am an actual professor.

You know, Relvig, I don't mean this in a rude way, but we have all heard the nonsense you are spewing.  You don't seem to be aware of what we are telling you.  I hope you take this chance to read these posts and find out what you haven't been told.  You probably won't change your vote but you might end up with a more well rounded understanding of what is going on.

I clearly stated he does not have to support Barack Obama to be labeled "Uncle Tom" and be a John McCain supporter. But, he is helping promotin hatred towards a black candidate and part of the very  cr owd like I explained above shouting out "terrorist", "kill him", "off with his head," shouting racial epithet to a black camera man, and not to mention the comments that was said before the rally. He EARNED the Uncle Tom title as a result for promoting such hatred to a black candidate and he is black himself.

You should check the historical reference.  If you are familiar with "uncle tom", then you will understand that the statement IS racist, but it was coined by black people towards other blacks.  I'm black, and I think any BLACK people who support MCCAIN are self-hating uncle toms.  Any blacks who voted republican in 2000 aren't necessarily uncle toms, but any blacks who vote McCain are.  Seriously, ANY black person who votes for McCain is NOT paying to the issues, and just hates the idea of a black man in power.  There is literally no other explanation.  The opinion is not discounted because it's opposing, it's because IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!

He clearly has been brainwashed. What did the republican party do for the middle class and poor? Do he know the main reason why we are in a shithole of debt today because of the republicans? I vote for the person, not a party. I can go either way and by the way, my fiance is black and he voted for the republican George Bush, but this year, he will vote for Obama. Additionally, many of my friends are black and they voted for the republican president, George W. Bush, and now they are voting for the Democrat, Barack Obama. I considered voting for a republican, John McCain until I read his policies and he decided to lose his dignity. Evidently, the republican have not done any better than the democrats, but have done so much worse than the Dems. Additionally, the people in the McCain/Palin rally are not very inviting to African Americans due to their racial comments. So Mr. Proud Black Republican, are you still proud of your party that has strong opinions about black Americans? Are you still supporting the very people who turned their backs on the middle class and bail out Wall Street? Will you still support a party and the man who wants to take away your nest egg such as your retirement? Will you still support a man who constantly lies about his opponent and will do anything and say anything to become the next president? Will you still support a man who voted with Bush 90 percent of the time? Will you still support this man who celebrated his birthday during a time of natural crisis? Will you still support this man who voted against Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. birthday with no apparent reason at all? Will you still support a man who is still for deregulation which deregulation got us in this mess in the first place? Those are my questions Mr. Proub Black Republican and if that is you who posted you video in this blog, I hope you are willing to answer them.

What I find interesting is the reality of what he has to say.  To ignore out of hand his comments would determine how far you are into belief as compared to educated.  To listen and then reason either the truth or unthruths would be of the educated mind.  To simply toss his statements out of hand is to deny there is anything other than your own beliefs.

Belief can be a wonderful thing.  It has saved many people in the depths of dispair.  It has also created pilots that would crash into out Trade Center buildings on 9/11/2001.  Be careful of belief, be more on the side of knowledge which allows discourse and discussion.

I listen to what he had to see and I don't succumb to any ideas without supporting facts. But he needs to address those questions here, debate with me here or privately. I am ready to debate with him.

Yes, after Willie Horton ads and the rest of the racism Republicans have shown in past elections, hard to believe a black person would still support them. Kinda like Jews who would vote for Hitler now. If you are black but don't like Obama, vote third party but not for the folks who are kicking you in the ass. I think religion plays a too strong role here too but don't vote the bible. Vote the better man.

by stanski on 10/09/2008 11:53:28 PM EST

most blacks are ideologically closer to republicans than democrats because of religion...racism just trumps religion for most people apparently...

Sadly I have heard this guy's show. Just another Right-wing Hack, except he is Black. And the racist listeners love to hear him reinforce they're views.
The station he works at used to be legitimate.
