good, decent people like Jayar do.

These good people actually buy the PR and unwillingly form a shield for the so-called "extremists" to propagate their religious world view with all the pain, hatred and suffering that brings with it.

These so-called "moderates" are the proof people point to defend the benefits of religions.
Are these moderate people of faith good because they actually follow the books, no they are good because they cherry picked certain things from the books to back up ethical values already reflected in the law or just plain decent human behaviour.

Moderates are overall good human beings, but they are bad religious people, while extremists tend to be bad people, but good followers of a religion.
This is easily backed up if you actually read those horrible "holly" books, but what do you honestly expect from morals that were thought up over 3000 years ago. I believe we have evolved in a good way and these antiquanted morals no longer have a place in this era. If not so, why did we ban slavery, death penalty for working on the Sabbath, killing in the name of your god, death penalty for adultery, etc etc etc etc

There are a few of us out here who are not complete cynics and who attempt to hold to ideals that are greater than ourselves. That doesn't mean we don't laugh hard at fist-fighting monks, though. We also laugh when people stereotype us as stupid, duped, dreamers, innocents, mindless, low-information, uneducated, unthinking, desperate, etc.. etc....  We are after all, pretty damned smug. And, oh, so tolerant. :-)
