I miss Jill Pike

I was watching the classic clips that were posted on the main page last Friday, and have to say I miss Ms. Pike.

I started watching the Young Turks when Ben and Jill were a part of the regular line-up, and I have to say I really miss that line-up.

Cenk is great, but I think he's at his best when he's having a conversation with the people sitting next to him, and Ben was the perfect balance, while Jill brought a fun titillation to the show.

Ana is a great person, and has really grown into her role on the show, but her personality and likes and dislikes does not allow her to get into some of the discussions that the Pikester did. Or rather Ana comes at the stories from a completely different take, which sometimes is just not as fun as Jill Pike.

I wonder what do other people think, do you miss the Cenk, Ben, and Jill line-up, or do like the current version better?

TYT this year (none / 0)
I started watching TYT only at the beginning of this year, during the primaries, and so I have no knowledge of the show before that besides watching a few clips on YouTube here and there.  I have to say I love the show the way it is, but it is also love "special" shows during the primaries, the debates, and on election night when Ben, Michael, and/or Wes are on.

I also came to TYT during the primaries, but have found past episodes featuring Jill to be fully entertaining and wouldn't mind the occasional appearance. I mean Ben comes on all the time, why not Jilly-Jill?

much more than I liked Jill's take on her more recent appearances.  I would love for Jill to come back and cohost, if only we could have the old Jill, and not Third Way Jill.  Yeah, I said it...

But they could at least give us an AT reunion or something.

You know I love Jill.  She's one of the things that kept me listening to the show in it's early AAR days.  But even you have to admit, her last guest hosting appearance (I didn't see her DNC interview) wasn't the same Jill that we all knew and loved.  She was all Third Way'd up from the feet up.

Actually, considering the number of people who've passed through Rebel Headquarters over the years (Abby much?), it does seem a little odd that we seldom to never hear from TYT alums. It's like Norm on SNL. I'm not sure that metaphor makes sense, but I'm tired.

Your post put it very well, but I'd never have said this nor will I vote: I do not think it is fair to compare Ana and Jill, and this sorta does that.  It could be taken wrong by Ms K, who is very much her own person with her own style.  Just as I would never say I like one of my sisters over another one.  (I'll leave that to Tigger.)

Suffice it to say that the interplay between Cenk and Jill was like crack to me when I first started listening... I didn't miss a minute.  And I never miss a Ben show either for the same reason.  Okay, okay... Jill had nicer breasts than Ben.  That's one comparison I feel safe making.  (Let's agree to disagree on this, Spencer.)

I miss Jill so much I've thought of e-mailing her and whining that she needs to come back to visit, if I didn't think it'd drive her further away.  Whatever unpleasantness went down btwn Cenk and Jill at the convention, it hasn't improved the chances of seeing her on TYT.  She already skipped out on the one time she was gonna drop by since Christmas-ish.

I wish someone would start a petition to bring Jilly back during the holidays when she's visiting the family.  I nominate rev24 to present it to her.  For best effect go find that song Jayar plays to make her cry, then play it on a boombox you hold over your head outside her DC apartment.  Chicks are suckers for that sh1t.

I too do not think it is fair to compare Ana and Jill, and that was not my intention.  As I wrote Ana is great and has really grown in her confidence and will give a great take. I would not want her to change.

Jill Pike though always ran the risk of saying something that would get her in trouble or from out of left field, that was just fun.

I may not have been paying attention, are Jill and Cenk in some fight? Did something happen at the DNC?

Cenk and Jill appeared to have some sort of verbal altercation at the DNC.  Details were sketchy because the audio was off at the time.  But we're not allowed to talk about it.  Previous threads on this subject were silenced by "the man".

I just found this site a few months ago so I never saw Jill but the I watched the 2 videos on here and they were both really funny. The thing was though it wasn't really her, it was how Cenk reacted to her crazy comments. From what I've read it doesn't look like she's ever going to come back and visit but if she did I think it would be a good show. That said though I love Ana to death. I think she's really funny too but in her own way. Ana's more reserved and Jill seems over the top.
