Comment on Palin

Lack of information.

I called my mother in the US after the election (should have called before) and was surprised to find that she knew absolutely nothing about Palin, almost didn't even knew who she was and still voted for McCain. I don't know about anyone else, but if I feel my information on candidates is lacking I don't feel qualified to vote.

A democracy works best if there is an informed electorate.

On the other hand, who among us has never voted for someone we have never heard of - at least for a Judge or local office?  Even a candidate's name, itself, can be very important to the success of winning an election.

Which is why it is even more impressive that someone named Barack Obama won the Presidential Election.
