Ringworm is a fungus:

Know your parasites!  That's all.

But it IS a parasite:

"Contrary to its name, ringworm is not caused by a worm but by parasitic fungi"

I know my parasites...thank you very much!

the "news" station AND the doctor used that description, the one that you used.

If I was doing fact checking on the third hour I'd have directed my finger wagging at them, not you.

I listen on podcast and since I saw this post I listened to that portion of the show carefully. Ana clearly stated that ringworm is a fungus. Did I mis-hear?

I'm still listening to yesterday's show. I sent Ana the video but I haven't heard her explain it yet.

friend's body ??!!

I'm going to hazard to "guess" that it was a result of bathing with a wash cloth and in doing so, your friend spread the fungus/ringworm all over her body.

I'll admit right now, while I have seen ringworm on others a few times, I have never educated myself about it and so I have no idea if bathing can spread it or not.

I simply liken it to Poison Ivy or Poison Oak ... If you have either of those and use a wash cloth, you will have rash ALL OVER YOU.

While being itchy is bad enough, I can imagine a few places where having this "itch" spread too, would be simply unbearable.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that my explanation may explain how your friend ended up with ringworm all over herself. Because it is usually found in only one location and the diameter of the infection grows from that point. I have personally never seen it all over anyone.
