Classic Young Turks Video Clips

In this video clip from December, 2006, Cenk, Michael Shure and Jill Pike discuss a new Senator from Illinois named Barack Obama who has the temerity to think he can run for President. Watch here.

This video clip from July 2006 is presented for pure titillation purposes. Watch here.

I really want to make a souvineer collection of chronicling the 2008 election through the prism of TYT. I want to download all the primary events Iowa pimary new hampshire super tuesdays debates and election night. This vid would be great to have too. Also I would love to see what Cenk said about Obama's Keynote speach back in 2004 on the night.

Any chance these can be put in the archive? are they already there?

The interesting thing is that all of them had valid points. Of course, like Cenk/Jill suggests, we should look at a candidates track record and of course like Michael argues, vision and positivity matter. Their debate presaged both the primary and the general election.

Ultimately, Michael was right.

By the by, more classic clips, Dave. The older the better.

Mr. Shure was dead on.  When he was pushing for Hillary, I thought he allowed his emotions to get in the way of his analysis.  However, prior to taking a hard stance on his preference, he was Yoda like.  Big ups to Mike.

Ironic that Michael was the instinctive Obama supporter back then.

Comment about the second clip:  Ben is hilarious.  I wish I listened to the show when he was a regular.

I too found it quite ironic, and amusing, that Michael Shure was the one defending Barack. Especially when I look back upon my memories of the primaries and the intense... irritation that I would have while listening to Michael in those months. You should've pulled this clip out when Michael and Cenk were co-hosting during the primaries.

And I second your comment about Ben. I wish I had found TYT earlier, the show really was a lot more entertaining with Ben and Jill (wtf DAve?! you guys didn't do advertising did at all, did you? At least not in Chicago... I seriously thought we were the last vestige of sanity left in the country. It would've helped my mental stability greatly to know there were others.)

This clip is totally backwards! Shure is defending Obama? Cenk is super-skeptical?

Oy.

That was fun, lol! Didja show this to Cenk since the election, Dave?

by Weapon X on 11/07/2008 11:45:24 PM EST

the question in dec.2008 was "what has obama done (in the senate, during a crucial time when leadership and courage was much needed)"? and the answer then is the same as the answer now---nothing of consequence whatsoever.

the skeptical cenk is certainly much more interesting to listen to than the worshipper who, a couple of days ago, said something to the effect of "even if obama attacks iran, i believe that he is intelligent enough to have thought about it and come to a good decision that was necessary and forced upon him".

sigh.
