Stephen Harper has panicked.

Prime Minister/Dictator - Stephen Harper is up to his usual Conservative partisan political tricks again.

As such, the Opposition Parites are in serious talks in attempt to join forces .... with any luck they will come to an agreement and get this loser out of office before things get any worse in Canada.

The Following > is a Liberal Party Newsletter I received this weekend.

Unable or unwilling to take real action to address Canada’s economic crisis, he has insisted on continuing to play partisan games. It has now caught up with him.

On Friday, faced with the possibility that the opposition parties (who together represent nearly two thirds of Canadians) could vote non-confidence in his ideological and negligent economic update, Mr. Harper resorted to procedural tricks to delay any vote for a week.

You might have thought he would have used this week to rethink his economic plan – to wake up to the reality that Canadians need more from their government than what he has offered so far. That is the kind of thoughtful leadership one hopes for in hard times.

Instead, Stephen Harper is mobilizing a massive grass-roots campaign to turn this economic crisis into a political one – to attempt to demonize the Liberals and the other opposition parties in the eyes of Canadians.

We must ensure that this campaign does not succeed. Please help. Two thirds of Canadian voters chose one of the opposition parties in the October election. If you were one of them, then now is the time to make your voice heard.

Write a letter to the editor. Phone a radio call-in program. Reach out on-line with Facebook or your favourite blogs. Get in touch with your friends and ask them to do the same. Let your fellow Canadians know that you too have lost confidence in this government. The stakes are too high for anything else.

Now is a time for action. Stephen Harper can no longer be trusted to act in Canada’s interests instead of his own. He must make way for someone who will.

Yours sincerely,

Martha Hall Findlay
Liberal Party of Canada

...the Conservatives go. Enough of their right wing stupidity. Hopefully NDP and Liberals will indeed form a coalition government that will last for a while.

At least in part (the larger part), the likely possibility of a Non-Confidence Vote has resulted from the fact that Harper "LIED" to Canadians during the Election Campaign.

Even though Harper called the last Election, he was the last to present his platform (in fact, only one week prior to the election). During his many speeches, Harper continuously reminded Canadians that our economy is strong enough to survive the worst, and most importantly ... The Conservative Government "Would NOT" run into a Deficit.

This was an outright lie as the PC's have just announced that they would now be running a deficit to act on behalf of our economy (in ways that are sure to fail ... mostly by lining the pockets of his buddies ..... Does this sound familiar to US Citizens ?).

Harper has continuously ignored real facts about the state of affairs, and has even ignored his own party advisors on many occassions, choosing rather to follow his own path blindly.

While Harper was pretty much forced into calling an election this past fall because the other parties were considering a vote of non-confidence earlier this year, the opposition parties are now almost forced and/or obligated (by Canadians), to force the PC's out of power in order to have a Competent Government in place during this serious time of need for all Canadians.

All Canadians have had enough of the lies, broken campaign promises (that Harper is "famous" for .. both past and present), and a general lack of action on the part of our government during the last 2.5 years.

It is time for change .... People PLEASE get out and vote this time .. lets put an end to this nonsense and get someone in place that can work well with Obama and the rest of the world in this modern age.

I would not at all mind if the result of a coalition would be the Canadian people being able to vote on this issue.

Unfortunately, it is looking like we won't have a chance to cast a ballot before the coalition is allowed to take the reigns... with a leader whose own party didn't want him to be leader anymore, who said he wouldn't be leader as soon as someone else had been elected by his party, who may end up being my PM, without any of us being able to have our say in the matter.  And that is what concerns me.

I don't mind if whichever party I vote for in any given election is defeated by democratic practice, what I do have objections to is a coalition of parties (one of which states very clearly that their goal as a sovereigntist party is to LEAVE Canada) taking over governing Canada without letting each Canadian have their democratic right of a vote.  I realize this turning over of power may be technically within the rights as awarded by the Constitution, but it makes me wonder when politicians stopped being political for the sake of helping their country and started being political for the sake of power.

We are in the middle of a global economic meltdown, and the socialists in Canada are trying to blame it on Stephen Harper?

by KenTX on 12/01/2008 11:41:57 PM EST

as the conservatives in America blaming it on Clinton, Carter and Obama.

Could you point out exactly where anyone said Stephen Harper caused the global economic meltdown? I only detected that SnowTiger is dissatisfied with Harper's response to the crisis and with his leadership in general.

I stand corrected!

If Canadians can blame a sitting PM for a global economic meltdown that he had absolutely nothing to do with creating, then this has serious potential implications for the upcoming Obama Administration.

God Bless! Go forward Canadian Socialists! Kick that guy (who had nothing to do with it) out of office!

Incidentally, I don't follow Canadian politics at all closely, so I don't have an informed opinion to give on Stephen Harper one way or another.

First of all, Thank You Jutewe for correcting the narrow-minded one !!!

I am happy to announce that a Coalition has been created and the papers signed on Monday this week. This means that the Bloq Quebec, NDP and Liberals have teamed up to join forces and should form the new government after a non-confidence vote on Monday Dec. 8/08.

This means, that the present Liberal Leader, Stephane Dion would be the PM at least until May '09 at which time there will be a leadership convention. The new leader would automatically become PM.

I'll keep you all updated.
