Republican for a Reason? HAH!

Listening to NPR this morning, I heard an interview with RNC Chairman, Mike Duncan, about the reformation of the Republican Party.  According to the interview, a web site has been created to take suggestions from the average republican. republicanforareason.com

When read letters from the web site about how the democrats are better at matters of economical import, the republican chairman simply said the equivalent of “nu-uh!” The letter writer said that they need to stop this trickle-down economic support.  Duncan thinks that the only issue is the perception people have since republicans were in charge during the economic downturn.  He doesn’t concede the fact that republicans played a major role in causing the economic downturn.  I shouldn’t be surprised by that.

Another suggestion posed on the web site was that the Republican Party needs to distance itself from the Religious Right.  He danced very lightly around this issue even though Steve Inskeep pressures him on the issue.  It’s pretty funny.  Duncan knows that the biggest supporter of the Republican Party is the Religious Right and he had damned sure not upset them.  The Religious Right is a hate group, in my opinion.  The religious center and religious left contains all the sanity, leaving none for the RR.

Is a hate group, then their equally hate filled counter group is the Liberal Left Blogosphere - Hate runs rampant on both sides of the spectrum, and sitting here pointing fingers at Religious people in this country should make us reflect on the religious zealotry that takes place daily at blogs like Kos and even TYT... Thanks for your time... :)

I have no love for the religious right.  That's no secret.  I did not have an argument for calling them a hate group.  That opens the door to anything being called a hate group and I'm not okay with that.  So, here I will denounce and reject myself for having an illogical opinion.  On the other hand, I can acknowledge that all groups that openly dislike another group can be considered a hate group and therefore fall into the category myself.  No comment at this moment.

On a more important note: ignoring my own bit of nonsensical opinion, your thoughts on the interview/web site?

I despise neo-nazi's. I assume just about every Jewish person out there does as well. It's completely illogical to try and equate neo-nazi's and Jews by dismissing them both as "hate groups".

One is and one isn't. Don't fall for Bobo's BS so easily!

As for the Religious Right, I would have much more respect for them if they spent most of their time trying to improve the *quality* of life for the less fortunate. Instead they spend an incredible amount of time, money and passion on wedge issues like abortion, gay marriage, physican assisted suicide and stem cell research.

At least two of those issues (arguably all 4) are quality of life issues, i.e. they want to interfere with or don't care about the quality of life (only quantity). Thom Hartmann was talking about watching his dad die of throat cancer, and how had suffered a stroke and was coughing up blood and crying.

The religious right would like nothing more than to keep this man suffering when in reality it's none of their damn business. All right, I'll stop now because I'm rambling and don't have spell check.

I suppose the only concession I was willing to give Bobo is that the Religious Right may not be a hate group per se but they do cater to what could be considered hate groups.  Many of them do intensely hate gay people and those they consider morally looose.  The majority of the Religious Right are probably not intent on harming anyone so much as beating them down with unconstitutional law.  I do concider that hate. I do not concider my battle against them as hate, even though I hate them.

They fit all the criteria to be classified as a hate group.

To equate the Daily Kos with a group like Focus on the Family is just the ramblings of an unhinged mind  namely .. BoboTX's

There are so many reasons why they are not alike at all.

pssst  beating people down with unconstitutional law is harming them.

The whole notion of hate the sin and not the sinner still has the same result. Marginalizing.. demeaning.. denying rights. Its a total load of road apples.

The  fact that gays are forced into a position where they have to explain why they should get the same rights and privileges as anyone else in the first place is  the result of hate mongering by the Christofacists.

BoboTX also thinks that blacks should still be drinking from different  drinking fountains.

TRUE STORY!

In a first grade English test, Bobo was faced with this brain-buster:

What's the opposite of "hate?"

He wrote, "hate."
