Global Warming

Micheal Savage makes a good point when he say's explain the reason for the end of the most resent ice age. This event occured before industrialization. Your thoughts?

So because the last ice age ended, there's no way that we might be polluting the air enough to cause the earth's average temperature to rise to a point that could have consequences costing us trillions upon trillions of dollars and billions of lost lives?  He's saying that we can't do that because the last ice age ended before industrialization?  He's saying that we aren't doing that because the last ice age ended before industrialization?

Savage's argument is fallacious (to be polite).

The case has been made and accepted by thousands and thousands of people whom we recognize as experts in the sciences involved.  It's up to Savage to refute it, and he'd better have more than that stupid argument.

Sure, they need to learn more about the exact mechanisms involve in global climate change.  They're still trying to figure out what all of the consequences will be.  And, frankly, I admit that the science involved in those issues is far to deep for me to understand.  But those scientists are telling us that human activities are a big contributor to climate change, and that the consequences if we don't clean up our mess will be more expensive than if we do.

But all that  ;Savage knows about the environment is what he learned while studying some folk remedies, and no reputable scientific institution anywhere in the world is going to give him the time of day for his hatred of studies confirming the fact that global climate change is occurring and can have devastating consequences.  Besides, it's a sure bet that he's completely emotionally unbalanced.  I wouldn't put any trust in his judgments -- unless you want to be classified as completely looney tunes yourself.

I think the lesson is here is that you should never start off a post with "Micheal Savage makes a good point when he say's.."

The odds are overwhelming that what follows is unlikely to be insightful, informative or of course, a good point.

I automatically shut out the inane blathering of people like Savage who, despite not being scientists, take it upon themselves to become champions of increasing CO2 emissions.  Especially when those people also happen to be self-hating basket cases like Michael Savage.

As for the fallaciousness of his argument, this isn't the first time Savage has engaged in "fallacio."

Micheal Savage makes a good point

I'm not sure but I think we can add this to the list of worlds greatest oxymorons, perhaps rivaled by my a couple of personal favorites like Haitian former President-for-life or spoken thought.

The principal driver of climate change and the end of the last ice age was the sun, with carbon dioxide ( CO2 ) amplifying the effects.

The amount of C02 taken out of the atmosphere as compared to what is put in used to be in perfect balance. But now that balance has been thrown off dramatically by man pumping billions of tons of co2 in the atmosphere every year.

Ask Micheal Savage what the result of  that imbalance should  be called? Maybe The Savage effect? I sorta like Global warming.
