Michigan and Florida will haunt Democrats

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
Wow! Listening to Cenk and Michael argue got me to thinking...uh-oh...

Man, the Democrats have screwed the pooch on these Florida and Michigan voters...

Again, I ask, who the Hell put Dr Quackers (Dean) in charge of this circus?

They need to revote in Florida and Michigan. I believe the campaigns need to chip in a certain amount, the DNC should really foot the bill because they are ultimately responsible for this mess.

Michael seems to be such a ClintonBot. i knew he supported her, but are they paying him to be so obstinate? The results in Florida and Michigan are BOGUS!!! If not all the names on the ballot and they weren't allowed to campaign, how the Hell can they count the ballots.

The state partiy chairs should be able to put their states  primaries whenever they want it. But since somebody over at the DNC fucked their own asses when they punished them, the DNC ultimately is the party in the wrong here.

I agree with Cenk on this one. let them revote or just wipe em off completely. either way, Dean has fucked y'all over due to his incompetence (I'm glad he didnt get the nomination last time around!!!)

What do you think should be done concerning Michigan and Florida? I welcome your comments!

As far as I know the Michigan Democratic party screwed Michiganders out of their vote.  In Florida it was DEFINITELY the republicans' fault as they legislated the primary date ahead of that mandated by both parties and over the objections of the Democratic party in Florida.  So yeah, someone should have stepped up and found a way to do a caucus or something else in Florida, but it's hardly Dean's fault.

And further more, let's keep this even more real.  The policy Dean was enforcing by stripping the Michigan and Florida delegates was a policy put in place by Hillary Clinton's very best buddy Terry McAuliffe.  So if you're going to go around calling anyone a quack, reserve it for that grease ball who wrecked our party until Dean came to clean things up.

But come on, are you seriously that much of a republican troll?  It's pathetic, man.  Really, really pathetic.

Whack jobs like you have no tolerance for opinions that don't originate from the far left.

I have no tolerance for you morons who don't know what the truth is.  If you've got some evidence against anything I said I'd love for you to bring it.  But until then just shut the fuck up, because clearly you guys don't even have bad ideas anymore.

Terry Mcauliffe is a Quack. no arguments here from me. Howard Dean is also a Quack. All one has to do is watch him on TV interviews to determine this. There is something not right about him. i cant quite put my finger on it, but Im sure hes had more than one mental evalution in his career as a Doctor...

I know this might be a stupid question, but what the Hell is a troll? Im sure you are not referring to me as some creature who lives under a bridge and charges the goats to come across, right?

Im new to this whole computer blogging thing. Is this some 21st century term that I age myself by not knowing?

Anyway, thanks for your comments, even though I certainly am not a Republican. They repulse me beyond all things, including my ex wife (and I really hate her!)

I think Michigan wanted attention because they are in dire straits again ( you think they would get it together? ) and wanted to bring attention to it? I dont have any idea what FL is doing. They are a big state they didnt need to move up.

you need to change your nick from bobo1 to doomandgloom1.

Relax.

I kinda like the sound of that...I don't know, bobo is a pet name of mine that I have used for years so im kinda attached, but thanks anyway.

As for chilling out, this whole scenario doesnt concern me if i am the Republican everyone seems to think I am.

I might get eviscerated for this by you guys, but not everyone is a left wing kook who drinks the supple milk of Barney Frank, George McGovern and Ted Kennedy. there are some people who actually like ideas from both sides of the aisle...

I simply bring this up because the Democrats have caused a rift (or at the very least an issue) that could have easily been avoided. I dont know everything about party rules and delegates et al, but it seems to me that someone should have been steering the boat before they ran aground on this.

As someone on one of these postings said earlier - "The Only way the Democrats lose this election is if they talk their way out of it"

Thats all im saying...Thanks for your comments.

You can blame Ken for your conservative image on this site.  His endorsement is like a small pox blanket.  Be wary...

I will admit back in the early 90s I was a full fledged Dittohead (Audio books and all), but I have grown up out of that phase. i appreciate discourse and discussion from either side of the spectrum. I would consider myself left of center now (WAY LEFT of BUSH and RePUBLICANS of today) The Republican party I knew way back when is gone (kind of like Darth Vader used to be Anakin Skywalker...) There is a bit of hope for redemption, but it will take their (political) death to reveal it.

Plus, I find Leftist Freaks so damn funny sometimes. The internet has really brought out some doozies. Could you possibly imagine this internet and blogging back in the 60s??? Where do y'all find some of these people?

I appreciate Ken's comments. He's the kind of guy i used to hang around with in college, ones that would go and talk to the Hippies and Religious nuts just to fuck with their heads - theres a sick kind of satisfaction in doing that sometimes (but only in moderation!)

Speaking of Moderation, i must go now, my Caucasian (white russian) is beckoning!!!

did you read this. Another person that George W Bush has pushed away from the Republican party. That makes me, bobo, I believe bfaul and there have been quite a few others that have come and gone. There are also quite a few others here that I suspect would vote for Republicans if they never turned into this "scary 1984 like bunch" that they have turned into since W took office.

Wait, I know "news flash for zippy, Bush is not running in 08". Does it really matter now?

Wake up and pay attention.

2008 is looking very similar to 1992.

If you'll remember, everyone was ready for a change in 1992. They didn't know why, but they just wanted change. The economy had been great for 10 years. We just defeated Saddam without losses.

The pendulum swings both ways. The GOP cannot win every election, every year. Odds are, the GOP will lose the White House and congressional seats this year, but it's not a 100% lock. At this point, the odds might be as high as 60%.

If the economy is good in November, and Hillary is the Democrat nominee, the odds could fall below 50%.

you are asleep.

"If you'll remember, everyone was ready for a change in 1992. They didn't know why, but they just wanted change."

No, this time they know why.

"The pendulum swings both ways. The GOP cannot win every election, every year.  "

This is the part that is just not sinking in for you. You love to brag about how Republicans won a bunch of presidential elections in the past. Well, a lot of us used to also. However, these ex Republicans like me, bobo, Spinny and even Cenk see that the Republican party has mutated into something we longer recognize.

Every time Bush "wins" on another domestic spy program, the more we see the party leadership put the Bible in front of the constitution, the more people see our military replaced by private mercinaries and the more that gets borrowed from a communist country with no explanation of how we will pay it back, the more of us walk away. That is not our country and that is not what we signed on for when we started voting for Republicans.

Those are the facts you need to wake up to.

Because if you were ever against cutting taxes or killing terrorists, you were never a Republican in the first place.

I can't imagine what part of the Republican agenda you were ever attracted to?

Ken, I am frank with you and tell you the way it is and all you got is a bunch of propaganda BS that is easily torn apart. Man I am disappointed.

Tax cuts? I am all for as long as we are not swiping the communist credit card to provide them. It is called "fiscal responsibility". You remember that Republican buzz term, don't you? Hell, a loyal Limbaugh listener must remember something about that.

Killing terrorists? The ones who attacked us still live and thrive on the Afghanistan/Pakistan boarder just where we left them when we decided to invade Iraq.

As always, I can support what I say with real sources where you will most likely cut and paste one line of what I said here and combat it with some other idiotic, bumper sticker slogan that has no base in fact.

Ken, I am telling you the way it is. Your Republican party is scarring people away from them. They (The Repubicans) have lost their way .

  1. You don't just "kill terrorists," you mete out justice to criminals, both to stop them from further crime and to deter other would-be criminals lest they suffer the same fate.  I supported going into Afghanistan, and still do.  Problem is, the neo-con led administration failed to kill the right terrorists.  They made us a laughingstock as bin Laden's organization continues hardly abated, he runs free, the Taliban is resurgent, and all we have to show is egg on our faces and a lot of dead service members.  The lesson we have taught the criminals?  We are a paper tiger, easily distracted, so do as you please.  Is that a Republican value you seem to be proud of?

  2. You don't cut taxes without a matching cut in spending, dollar for dollar.  Up front.  No voodoo math, no borrowing against future revenue or counting on a market increase, and damned sure no increasing a budget deficit.  Reagan failed at that, and so has Shrub.  If you don't have the balls to make the budget cuts and make them up front and make them stick, you don't get to put a tax cut on your resume.  Fail to follow that simple rule, and you are no better than any tax and spend liberal.  Is that a Republican value you seem to be proud of?

Now, tell me again, what is there about the Republican party that is good?

Recovering Republican here, too.  Deal-breaker for me was the religious right hijacking the party.  Moderate centrist in a lot of ways, with a leavening of lefty liberal whack job heresies and some libertarian freedom-loving tendencies just to keep things interesting.

I find "ex republicans" to be pretty damn funny. Considering that you where such a right wing freak that you actually had the audio books its no wonder that you would hang around a conservative wing nut. I don't appreciate his comments or anyone else that is parroting the right wing propaganda. Call me a hippie but I believe that the right wingers have caused so much damage to this country , its standing in the world, its economy and the constitution its going to take years to correct.

Im one of those left wing freaks that is proud of what liberlism stands for . As far as the 60s maybe if the net was around then " The hippies" could have organized better and stopped the vietnam war much sooner.

Because there is a lot of media attention and it's good for local commerce.  But if they could they would all just keep pushing them up until we were voting for our 2012 nominee right now.  The states have to be penalized for that.  It's not Deans fault though obviously.  He didn't tell them to push the dates up.  I wish there was an easy solution, because it sucks just throwing out all those voters, but live and learn Florida and Michigan.  It's really too late to remedy this in any way that would leave everybody happy.  There's a reason for the timetables to be laid out as they are.  We're seeing evidence of that now.

But Howard Dean has done a great job.  We have a majority in both houses right now (as useless as it may seem at times) and that's all thanks to his strategy.

The only reason this is an issue though is because Hillary is losing her ass all of the sudden, and the media would hate to not have ol' Hillary to kick around anymore.  Wow I'm sick of having to frame things in terms of how the media will feel about them.  Anyways...

by Spencer on 02/14/2008 01:01:07 AM EST

Thanks for your comments. I agree with you mostly - especially about why this is all the sudden a big story (although I posted about it a week back maybe)

I dont agree on Dean, obviously. The guys an A1 certified nutbag kook. Has anyone else detected that sense of paranoia when he is on TV. Its like the voices are talking to him when someone else is asking a question. And the whole HEEYAH thing - please...

Yeah, Democrats have the majority, but thats because of Bush and his Bullshit, not anything Dean has done.

The Democrats have hit the political Jackpot - A horendously unpopular president, a terrible war AND a shitty economy - This really should be a no brainer for the party - but somehow they will try to fuck it up, as usual.

Pathetic - we shouldnt even be having this discussion - this is a wham bam thank you mam if i ever saw one (and Ive witnessed quite a few in my days!!!)

Thanks again...

looks to me that they both wanted to become more important,or more worth in this campaign.and again its about the the $$. the dnc has rules and as dems we are the ones that try to stay by the rules.so fl&mi shot them selfs in the foot, and its to bad it happened that way.if they left things alone ''IF''IF'' SO LET IT BE.they lost there chance ,and the rules cant change just for them or we will all start to become just like the ''R's'' in time
