Getting Pulled Over and Getting Away

I was checking out the show today and noticed the conversation about getting pulled over by the cops/ getting away.

I thought I would fill you in with a little story of mines.

I guess you could call me lucky or blessed by that so called "God" in the sky, but in November 2007, a few days before I was to head to London, England, I was pulled over by the Cops. Now, mind you that I am riding a around with a suspended license steming from a charge that I had from the previous year.

I knew my licesnse was suspended, but I was riding around anyway. For an entire year I was riding around with a suspsened license, but I did not find out until I wanted to get some new insurance....and the guys at Esurance told me...instead of the DMV that I had a suspended license.

Anywho, to make a long story short. I was caught up in a "California Stop". The Copper was there all night getting people pulling the illegal...so course me riding around with some Micky D's in mouth was pulled over too.

He runs my tag, which came out clean. Then he runs my license...NEGATIVE.

So, the Officer comes back to the car and tells me the yadi yah about my license and my charge and like everyone on the show proclaimed today...if you are nice to Cops...the Cops will set you free, that is in my case.

I am not telling you the next time you get arrested to make the Officer feel like the :grandpoba of the upper butt crack:, but make up some excuse or at least try within your efforts to show them respect.

That is how I see.

my friend got pulled over and I was in the car.  For some reason the cop wanted ID from both of us, and I (being a rebellious youth/vandal afraid of being identified) never carried any.  I of course got snotty about it like an idiot, and the cop closed the car door on my leg.  Consider that a lesson learned...  Now I evade as soon as I see the lights.
That last line's a joke, but the rest is all true.  So, in the words of NWA... well, you all know that song.

I have probably racked up more speeding tickets than the entire forum combined. I used to hire lawyers to get the tickets thrown out on technicalities. That was expensive, but it usually worked.

A few years ago I got XM radio and a blackberry, and suddenly, I was no longer in a hurry. Everything I needed was in the car.

I also learned something about being polite to traffic cops. If you say, "yes sir", "no sir", "I'm sorry sir", they usually let you go with a warning.

Now my driving record is spotless.

It's OK to think of them as donut eating slobs who need to go arrest a murderer or something, but be nice to them when you are talking to them.

Of course you're right.  But go and try to tell that shit to a teenager.  Even if they listen to you, something just happens when they get in the presence of cops.  They... must... DEFY!

There's a kid who will carry a grudge against anything in uniform for the rest of his life. This is what I would put up as a training video on how NOT to act when you're wearing a uniform and are a servant of the people. The officer should keep in mind that not only is there no law against being a smart-ass, there's a little thing called free speech he has obviously decided isn't as important as being the Big Dog.

One of the areas Ken and I agree to disagree.

See, I'm one of those people who have had enough dealings (very few direct problems, a lot of contact through former employment) with badge wearers. A few of them resemble human beings. The rest? Not so much.
And, really, anyone with legs like his should not wear those shorts or at least get a thicker skin...dude...what a prick.

But these little shrimps need some discipline. They are clearly not getting training at home.

That's why bobo needs the authority to administer discipline in the classroom.

"But these little shrimps need some discipline. They are clearly not getting training at home."

Then the job is to find their parents and work out some way for them to start fulfilling their parental duties.  Yeah, that's not a quick and easy solution, but it's the correct one.  What, do you support a nanny state, where we pay tax dollars for people to babysit our kids and even raise them properly?  We have enough of that already, don't we?

If the kid broke a law, make the parents suffer for it and then watch their involvement go right up on the scale.  If the kid's just obnoxious, then be an adult and ignore it or, at worst, state your disapproval.  A badge and a gun are not license to be a bully, nor a nanny.

...Cartman screaming "YOU WILL RE-SPECT MY AWW-THOR-IT-TAY!!!"

Discipline does come in many forms, it's true. I'm not sure the 'Drill Instructor' approach works on the general public.

I don't want to make it seem like I think the cop crossed into abuse, I just think he is very self important and just a little insecure. Not to mention a little touchy about being called "dude." Would he have reacted the same way if it was a linebacker sized adult calling him "dude?"

When he remarked about the friends being "smart" because they knew when to shut up, I was thinking, "Y'know, offisser, y'all could be the one to back off. You're pushing him as much as he's pushing you - who's the responsible adult here?" Guess he never saw First Blood...

Loved the end - "Is that camera on? I better not find myself on..."

Nah, no worries, patrol biker guy.

In my opinion most cops are just as dysfunctional as the criminals they are after. Their marriages don't last they are usually racist and or homophobic. They have tons of baggage and not enough training the right areas obviously.
