It would appear everything has been politicized by the bushies.

DALLAS -- Security details at Barack Obama's rally Wednesday stopped screening people for weapons at the front gates more than an hour before the Democratic presidential candidate took the stage at Reunion Arena.

The order to put down the metal detectors and stop checking purses and laptop bags came as a surprise to several Dallas police officers who said they believed it was a lapse in security.

Did they follow the order?  Did any of them have the brains that God gave a rock and say, "Hey, Lieutenant, I think that's a stupid order.  Maybe we should ignore it and not try to get Obama killed."

Jeezus.  They'd goddamned well better not kill Obama, too.  I will not sit still for this shit again.

Where do I go to sign up for the revolution?

i'd actually be 100% okay with them pulling the race card on this one.  obama goes to texas and is not protected?  it sounds like a made-for-tv movie plot.

So Obama's safety is in the hands of an agency subordinate to the Homeland Security goons.  There's a conflict of interest for you: Shrub's Hounds assigned to protect the biggest danger to his "legacy."

Damn them!

It clearly stated in the article that this was a decision made by the federal authorities in charge of security.

I have a cousin in the Texas Secret Service.  He's a conservative goon, but he also has diamond-hard integrity and would never be complicit in any kind of plot to do less then his best at his job.  When I first posted on this thread I was pissed, but I've had time to think.

I'm chalking this up to the kind of crass incompetence I'd expect from an agency Shrub's Homeland Security numb nuts have taken over.  They showed piss-poor planning in not anticipating the bottleneck at the gate, and mind-numbing idiocy in the decided solution--but I don't believe in a deliberate conspiracy to get Obama killed.

I might eat those words some day, but there they are.

He may do his job well but if someone tells him not to do it. Thats the problem?

He's not a robot, nor (I assume) are his colleagues.  They know their mission is to protect him, I don't believe they'd countenance an order not to do that mission.  Even in the military you're allowed to refuse an unlawful order.

I hate Shrub, hate his administration, and wouldn't put that kind of skulduggery beyond criminals like Cheney/Rove, but I just don't buy there's such a current going on here.

Feel free to dismiss me as a Pollyanna.

Ya know what you bring up something I didnt see in the piece. Did the police stop screening when told to or was there resistance right there on the spot.
