Cenk's point about Juno

Cenk's point about the fact that Juno is so progressive might be because of the screenwriter

Juno is written by Diablo Cody, who used to be a stripper.
And let's face it people in the adult industry tend to be a little less judgemental than the average folk.

Makes me think of the only candidate running for President who is 100% progressive and the least judgemental: Mike Gravel. Besides Dennis he was the only one who is really for gay rights and is the only one in support of the adult industry.

Gravel at a fundraiser of The Free Speech Coalition:

"“I’m not ashamed to stand up for your industry,” Gravel said, to one of many rounds of applause. “I’m very well aware of what I’m doing here, and it will be interesting. But if it’s handled well by me and by those around me, it will be a milestone in advancing the ball down the field.
Of the industry itself, Gravel was blunt: “It’s an honest living, be proud of it.” Though he insisted also that it needs to hold its head up higher if it wants to effect change.

”You’re not proud enough of what you do. You need to get aggressive at the bottom line of what you do.” And he challenged the industry to do more to mobilize its customer base in support of free speech issues.

“Don’t come crying to me,” he said. “Get tough, and come out of the closet. Imagine what you could do!” "

Even though I've been very critical of Juno, I thought the writing was great and I understand why Diablo won for Best Original Screenplay.  As I've said before, I felt the movie came off as very unbelievable.  Anyway, Diablo totally reminds me of a Portland stripper, but I guess she's from Minneapolis.  Speaking of entertainment, anyone see her get her Oscar?  Understandably, she so lost it at the end, and tried to cover her face as she completely geeked out - I loved it!  Oh yeah - go Gravel!

so I have no opinion either way.

Although I would point out that a lot of pro-life groups really liked Juno, which (naturally) didn't sit well with some pro-choicers because they think it's (directly or indirectly) anti-choice.

Again, I'm neutral, I just wanted to bring up the fact that not everyone agrees with *all* of the message.

the pro-life groups probably like it because she chose the keep it, they totally miss the point about being pro-choice: it's not about abortion but actually about choice
