EV Count Update for 2/27/08, Another new state!

First: congrats to Obama for:

At 6:00 AM eastern he reached 1 million donors to his campaign, a record.

For recieving endorsments from 2 more senators today and getting a super delegate to switch from Clinton to Obama.

For pulling to within 6 in PA, 4 in Ohio and taking the lead in Texas.

Now for the updated state head to head polls.

The new state, isn't really new, its NV and on 2/14 a Rasmussen poll showed Clinton losing by 9 and Obama winning by 12.

However it is the now one of the 17 states that has head to head polls out, and combined they represent 218 EVs or 40.5% of the total EVs.

Also updating today is PA, which now shows Clinton and Obama both beating Mac by 2.

So PA is no longer tied for Clinton and Obama is once again leading.

Therefore the current EV count stands at:

Clinton vs McCain:

Clinton: 91, 41.7%
McCain: 110, 50.5%
Michigan is tied,

overall Clinton is catching up to Mac nicely, she may even take the lead if she can start to win in MI and get some more blue states in.

Obama vs McCain:

Obama: 156, 71.6%
McCain: 57, 26.1%
NM is tied

Note: those numbers are not typos, Obama is beating Mac in 12/17 states and tieing in NM.

The states that McCain wins are: MO, FL, KS, VA

MO and VA are close, if Obama can take the lead there, as well as take NM his domination of Mac will become embarrasing.

Of course Mac will get stronger as time goes on and some red states join the party.

If texas releases a poll its good for him. Of course Obama would be helped by IL with 21 EVs.

Overall this is turning out to be an very exciting election.

Say what you will of the electoral college, but winner take all makes for riveting daily poll watching.

I shall update the count tomorrow, assuming new state head to head polls become available.

Oh, and to all those who scream, "these polls are meaningless".

Remember that every day brings us closer to election day and thus every day the polls become more reliable.
