More Horrific Photos from Abu Ghraib

The Bush Administration's horrific torture tactics continue to surface with THESE NEW PICTURES FROM ABU GHRAIB.  Cenk wonders how much longer we will accept these actions as normal.

Cenk. you are nailing it. again, to the wall. the more pissed you get the more sense you make. I'm glad you are recognizing this as an important issue because it is. Our country is turning into something it is not suppose to be. It's been a slow churn up until GWB and now it's like every week more strides towards eliminating human rights slashing the tires of decency and freedom all over the place. The democrats are part of it. Frankly anyone in government that goes along with any of this crap is a problem. I hope Obama has got some real balls when he becomes the president because it is going to take a lot of work to undo not only some of these policies, like torture.. but also the thought process of these politicians. They desperately need a strong leader. Intelligent and bold, unafraid to make real changes happen. I'm a come way lately Obama supporter and want to believe he will turn this country around. Both he and Hillary I believe are too far to the middle which now days.. isn't the middle at all in my opinion. EVERYTHING has drifted to the right. Torture is normal. How did Mukaesee get through ? He is so obviously conservative.. yet gets the nod from dems as well with his ridiculous answers on the water boarding question, IT SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED IN THIS COUNTRY. Thanks for another great segment.

none of the presidential candidates so much as whispers that, when elected, they will open up the archives of the president/vice-president, department of defense, department of state, and military, negating (even retroactively) any document seals imposed by bush, and prosecute all those involved in war crimes, all the way up the command chain to the highest levels.

as far as i can tell, none of the candidates has ever said anything germane to this issue.

one of the following must therefore be true:

  1. they think torture is fine and will not investigate abu ghraib or gitmo,
  2. they recognize torture as a war crime, but will not pursue the matter for fear of acrimony during their administration (esp. from the right wing),
  3. they recognize torture as a war crime, and are simply operating below the radar during the campaign so as to not ruffle any feathers---once they are in office, they will immediately start war crimes proceedings on all guilty parties.
in other words, all presidential candidates are either sadists, cowards, or selfish liars willing to say whatever is needed to get elected.
