I thought this was pretty fantastic.

The interviewer starts off BLATANTLY biased and the guy ends up turning him around.  It's awesome.

a real right winger of which i am not ,can fight back much harder then that, not to sure about this one. is it set up or not, and how can we find out.don't take things at face value ,ck it out real good, before you take it to heart ???

Anything can be a set up. But I think its a little paranoid to think that this one was a set up. It was obviously some right winger. He asked all the typical questions. I know what he was doing. He saw some young black guy and figured he could do a gotch a on him because the black guy was going to be stupid and there just because Obama is black. Instead he got schooled big time.

It seemed a little contrived to me.

The questions appeared to be softballs so the Obama man could knock them around the park.

Too many campaign talking points, too many scripted answers. Someone called it viral marketing, I think that'
s what we have here.

Of course I'm one of those evil cynics destroying reform while pumping life into the status quo.

Some don't realize that one definition of a cynic is "an idealist whose rose-colored glasses have been removed, snapped in two and stomped into the ground, immediately improving his vision."

Some cynics of note include Diogenes, Swift, Voltaire, and Mark Twain. I'm not sure I would argue they pumped life into the status quo, but it's possible. Optimism comes with youth, cynicism comes with experience, if you bother to pay attention.

I see things like this video and my cynicism kicks into high gear.

When you view this video you have to suspend rational thought and believe

1.The interviewer was at worst a Republican tool or at best a Clinton supporter out to find and embarrass Obama supporters with his scathing interview style.

2. The Obama supporter he chose happened to be one that was so informed and knowledgeable as to be able to deliver articulate answers in a honest but street wise way.

3. The Obama supporters answers were so strong and convincing that he was able to change the mind of a "true believer" who was so devoted to the other side that he took what appears to be a high end video camera to the streets to make fools of the Libs of the left.

4. After being humiliated by the answers that Obama man gave the interviewer changed his previous political philosophy and decided to post his humiliation on the Internet for all to see.

WELL ALRIGHTY THEN!!! If you say so.

Maybe thats what you have to believe. I believe he was stalking out front of a Dem debate and ran across an articulate and intelligent young black guy imagine that.  NO reason to over think it .

Okay, if you say so.

What the fuck does the young man being black have to do with the conversation.

Are you trying to imply that I don't think young black men can be articulate?

Why do you have to insert race into the conversation?

You can believe it or not but the young mans race never entered into my impressions of the video.

Now that you mention it, I see it's the evil white guy trying to keep a brother down, versus the articulate brother keeping hope alive.

Nope not a staged video at all.

What the fuck does the guy being black have to do with it? I think I made that clear in a previous post. Conservatives automatically think because hes black hes ignorant. Obviously you did to.

If you are as smart as you profess then I think you know what you can do with your holier than thou attitude and conspiracy theories.

I could never hope to be holier than YOU!

I was merely engaging in a conversation and you chose to take a belligerent tone.

I would never dream of thinking myself more intelligent than someone of you obvious mental abilities.

You seem to be the one that keeps harping on the Obama supporter being black, not me. In fact in the entire post YOU were the one who first mentioned the young man as being black, and you seem to still be obsessing over the fact that he is black.

I will forgive your ignorance in my attitudes towards blacks, but I will repeat what I said before, the young mans skin color wasn't even a consideration when I viewed the video, but it obviously was for you.

He saw some young black guy

I believe he was stalking out front of a Dem debate and ran across an articulate and intelligent young black guy imagine that.

Conservatives automatically think because hes black hes ignorant. Obviously you did to.

Now I will leave it to the readers of this thread to decide who is the one who feels blacks need to be defended when it comes to intelligence. I still have to wonder why you keep obsessing over the young mans skin color.

The right down the line right wing script that the interviewer was throwing out is what made me question the validity of the video, and I will repeat I was only trying to engage in a conversation.

Jarrett, when you say they weren't softball questions isn't the point to try and make them look confrontational and tough but when you examine the answers the young man gave they come out of the Obama playbook.

he sounded VERY confident that the Obama kid wouldn't have any answers to his questions.

To be effective wouldn't the script call for the interviewer to be shocked at the answers the young man gave?

I'm not implying the video was a bad thing, it was effective, I only question the "chance" of a right wing interviewer being swayed by the standard campaign answers that we have all heard before.

I admit I could be wrong, but it seems some think that unless we accept unchallenged anything that is pro Obama we are somehow siding with the Cons. Sorry to disappoint.

I didn't think so.  They all sounded like typical right-winger talking points to me and he sounded VERY confident that the Obama kid wouldn't have any answers to his questions.

As for that clip being contrived, I've gotta say, that thought didn't even cross my mind.  Maybe I'm naive, or maybe people need to realize sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.  :)

As for being cynical, I think most of us can relate sometimes.  But I also think being constantly cynical is just as problematic as being constantly (overly) optimistic.  There's a fine line between being cynical and being an obnoxious contrarian (keep in mind I'm speaking very generally and not directing this to anyone here at TYT).

I happen to know one obnoxious contarian in particular...if you say left the guy goes right, you say cold, he says hot, and so on.  This extends into politics.

My big issue isn't necessarily with cynics, but moreso with what I call (politically) apathetic cynics.  I might actually resent them MORE than right wing conservatives. I guess I'll have to make a thread about that sometime...

The clip is no more detailed than the usual platitudes from the right. One thing I learned from Reagan other than don't make deals with mullahs, Nicaraguan drug dealers and lie to Congress is that:

Politics is message. Obama has that down pat.

I don't think the interviewer was turned. At the end, he just laughed and joked and thanked Derrick for talking with him. That's not strong evidence he's been turned. If anything, the questions and answers reveal that both interviewer and interviewee held similar views from the start.

Tuna wrote: a real right winger of which i am not ,can fight back much harder then that, not to sure about this one. is it set up or not, and how can we find out.

Some of the interviewer's questions made me suspect he's somewhat libertarian. He probably lives and/or works in Orange County and reads the Orange County Register.

Was it set up? Mike interviewed Derrick holding a sign for Obama standing outside a debate. Derrick either planted himself there or was planted by someone else. He set himself up in a great spot to be interviewed. He had clearly studied the issues and had ready answers.

Chinese Democracy wrote: He saw some young black guy and figured he could do a gotch a on him because the black guy was going to be stupid and there just because Obama is black.

Watch part one and part two to see the same interview style used with other subjects.

Hubble wrote: Too many campaign talking points, too many scripted answers.

Derrick has experience reciting scripted lines. He is an actor and a professional speaker.

Hubble wrote: After running across an articulate Obama supporter he decides to post his own humiliation on the "Internets" for all to see just what a fool he is.

Mike was not humiliated. He was laughing at the end of the clip. He enjoyed the interview.

Jarett wrote: Softballs? I didn't think so.  They all sounded like typical right-winger talking points to me and he sounded VERY confident that the Obama kid wouldn't have any answers to his questions.

He sounded like he just wanted to see if Derrick could answer some questions about Obama's positions and whether or not he supported Obama for emotional or rational reasons.

Oh, and a 32 year old man is not a kid.

For what it's worth, Derrick mentions the video here.

Ive seen the other clips like a week ago. I dont see anything that would lead me to believe that he didnt cherry pick that guy.

Ive seen the other clips like a week ago.

Part 3 has been viewed about 170,000 times while the first two parts have been viewed fewer than 10,000 times each. The first video has a nurse who says that she supports Hillary because she'll do something about health care, but she declines to say what. She is followed by two professional demonstrators paid by a union to hold Hillary signs. The second video has a man in sunglasses who talks about Hillary for awhile and seems fairly knowledgeable, at least in comparison to the first three subjects. Then the third video is devoted to interviewing an Obama supporter who just happens to be a professional speaker and a Harvard graduate. Why is he the only Obama supporter featured when there are three Hillary supporters featured in the series? Was Derrick cherry picked from the many Obama supporters?

I dont see anything that would lead me to believe that he didnt cherry pick that guy.

Did you intentionally construct that sentence with a double negative? I agree with that sentence that Derrick was cherry picked.
