Fifty States FOREVER (poll)

The biggest worry I have is that whoever gets the nomination is going to push Howard Dean out of the DNC.

It's almost certain that Hillary would replace him, even though the 50 state strategy was huge in 2006 and will be even huger in 2008.  And I have NO idea which way Obama would go, but I haven't seen anything encouraging on that front.  Hillary supported him for the Senate and he seems pretty DLC to me.

As this primary has shown, having a ground game in every state is VITAL to winning.  Perhaps it isn't as directly important in the winner-take-all general election for the presidency, but winning local elected offices IS important for building the foundation to win the general election.  It's kind of depressing that it isn't clear that either of the candidates will continue that push.

So what do you guys think?  Any chance of a permanent liiiiiiiiiiiiberal majority?

The 50 state strategy has been very successful. If Senator Clinton rejects it, she'll be shooting the Dems in the foot.

The problem is so much larger than that, however. If the media continues to echo Republican talking points, we'll have to somehow maintain this high level of involvement which is not very likely. The 90% who normally don't pay attention will go back to sleep and many activists will go back to their lives. After 4 years of Republican attacks and investigations into non issues, as in the Clinton years, people will have forgotten Bush and succumb to the conservative talking points again.

The new internet media is here to stay, I think, but it's only used by a few. Unless some kind of Fairness Doctrine can be reinstated, the pendulum will swing back pretty quickly with all the pressure from TV and the other MSM.

Those last two choices in the poll were comedy gold.  DLC...  HA!

Anytime a "permanent" anything is discussed...run..don't walk to the nearest exit

Perceived "Permanence" breeds complacency, complacency breed defeat.  On Nov 9 ask a Republican they'll tell you.

Let's settle for a period of prosperity that inspires people to keep voting for it, and a party that strives (and manages) to earn those votes time after time.  Never take anything for granted.
