the audacity of hopelessness

hill and bill pull out all the stops
you have to hand it to the clintons... they ARE slick. they have managed to tear down their opponent using the most rovian of tactics, endorse the republican nominee, intimidate the press by crying foul, peddle fear over hope, and, when all that barely makes a dent... they claim their opponent as an asset. bill is actually campaigning on the strength of their vp choice... barack obama. wow. now that's audacious. like cenk, i find sports analogies kind of handy, so let me put a few thing is perspective. the team with the most points wins. period. right now, obama is winning. no one ever lost a football game by scoring one more point than their opponent. and many have lost by coming up one point shy. it's a heartbreaker, but a loss is a loss. give bill and hill credit for landing a blow to a very tough opponent, but, in the end, hill's california touchdown is trumped by obama's virginia, iowa and kansas field goals. i don't think the clinton campaign will be able to tamper with the refs or get the rules changed during th fourth quarter here, and obama will ultimately open the same can of whupass on mccain in november that has unseated a very inside, very establishment, VERY well-funded and adored opponent in the primary.
