I didn't want Obama to enter the race a year ago because I really wanted a Clinton/Obama ticket, or, alternatively, an Edwards/Obama ticket. I thought Hillary would be an awesome president. Even after disqualifying Hillary a few weeks ago (the reasons for which I laid out in a novel posted on this site), I couldn't join in the hero-worship style passion for Obama that so many (most Turkites(?) included) have shown.

I give up... Barack Obama is the greatest politician candidate of my lifetime. I've been resisting exuberance even after I gave in to support. It was hard, too. Anyone who's been in the chat when the talks turns to food or cities knows how I, spencer, jarrett, ihavenobias and a few others love talking about Chicago. I think I'm more of a homeboy than almost any of them. Every time Obama says the "from the streets of Chicago..." line I get a chill. I... must.... resist...but...

How could anyone listen to that speech and not think "That's exactly how I've been waiting for a politician to answer a controversy my entire life"???

I'm all in now. This. Guy. ROCKS!!! Drink the kool-aid guys, it's damned refreshing. And stop wasting your energy.

I understand your view, Bobo. But resistance without reason is robotic. This kool-aid is full of vitamins and electrolytes and is low in trans-fats and sugar. The more you hear him describe the reasoning behind his statements and positions, you cannot help but love the nutritious yet ambrosia-like drink.

Completely random observation:  Everyone does the same old robot voice.  Why is this still the standard?  We actually have robots now and they sound like regular humans and not all stilted and weird (think about the friendly robot that answers when you call the bank for instance).  When will the impressions change with the times?  Hopefully when Barack is elected this will be the first thing he rectifies.

Also, is John McCain old enough to still call them "robits" like they did in old movies?

These are the kinds of questions I have been freed to contemplate now that I have joined in contentment. Its increased my non-political thinking time by 300%.

I've been practicing several different robot voices.  One of my favorites is:

"I-am-an-Obamabot.&quo t;

I've also tried "I/am/an/Obamabot" ;, but that one seemed to get on people's nerves.  Still, "I. Am. An. Obamabot." is the one that comes most naturally to me now that I've drunk The Kool Aid.

This brings up another problem:  I've never been sure of the exact conjugation of the verb "to drink".  What is the past participle?  "Have drunk"?  "Have drank"?  "Did drink"?  None of them feel right, but we have to get it right since there are so many people drinking The Kool Aid now, and it's going to come up more often.

He gave every indication that he wants to move beyond race and actually talk about who is the best candidate.  He's never, EVER framed himself as "the black guy."

I didn't hear Wright say that America was evil.  It's important, Acroso, because words have meaning.  He did say "God damn America" for it's racism.  I don't know whether God did or not, but we did get rid of those evil Jim Crow laws, didn't we?  Now if we can just clean up the remnants of that horribly destructive personalit y disorder of racism, maybe we won't be faced with the threat of eternal damnation anymore.
