Hillary "Gollum" Clinton? How she "turned into" a monster.

How Hillary became a monster.

I was very surprised to hear that actor Sean Astin, of "Samwise Gamgee" fame in "Lord of the Rings" had endorsed Hillary Clinton. The Samewise I remember from the book, and from movie, I think, would have known better.

Surely the hobbit Samwise understood the evil inherent in "the Ring of Power", he saw what it did to his friend Frodo, and how to turned the young lad Smeagol into the pathetic monster Gollum. The deep and unstoppable DESIRE for power, embodied in the Ring, was unquenchable, and robbed them of their deeper principles in a quest for "Power at any price".

Afterall, this is what Obama's policy advisor Samantha Power really meant when she said (off the record) that Hillary was "a monster". What Power meant was that Hillary has TURNED INTO a monster. Hillary has morphed into a Gollum-like monster, her desire for power leads her to do anything, and say anything, and be anything, in order to gain "the Ring of Power". She will not allow anything stop her, not even if this means crushing the principles of the Democratic Party, and alienating tens of millions of young, progressive, and African-American voters, without wich the Democrats can not possibly hope to win against John McCain. How can you hope to defeat the forces against you when you also embrace their quest of power over principle?

Hillary says, "me WANTS IT, me MUST HAVE IT! it is MINE! ME PRECIOUS!" What was good about Hillary in her younger days has now morphed and turned into a monster.

Yes, Sean Astin should have learned from his character Samwise Gamgee. Samwise would have known better.

Yes Hillary wants to be President and she fights to win (Kerry didn't, lost and liberals bitched that he didn't fiight back)

So that makes her Gollum

What princicple is she crushing? Alienating tens of millions of voters?(Obama has around 13 million votes and Hillary has 12 million. Only 800,000 votes separate the 2 candidates) Are you implying the Afro-americans only vote for Obama? Obama can't win the election without Clinton supporters either

Obama went from state legislator to a 2 year stint as US Senator and suddenly he lusts for the  Presidency. How can he violate Democratic priciples (Like seniority or waiting your turn) and alienate the 12 million voters who have supported her candidacy, without which he has no hope to beat McCain?

As you can see the same thing can be said about your candidate.

Funny Clinton supporters want the Dem (Hillary or Obama) to win in November, Obama supporters want HIM to win or else they would let the Pubs win the WH again.

So who is the one really under the influence?

The problem I have with Hillary is she is fighting dirty.  When she was ahead in the polls (before the primaries began), she made a big deal of running a nicer campaign, but when she lost Iowa, she changed her tune dramatically.  She went off on Obama for plagiarism, but her short talk in the 20th debate about how what she is going through being nothing like what the people (in the audience) are going through was almost precisely what her husband said in 1992.  She has turned her campaign to something resembling a republican campaign in that she has made fear a large part of her strategy.  I prefer Obama's message of hope.  When Bill was campaigning for Kerry in 2004, he said if there is someone campaigning on hope (Kerry) and someone on fear (Bush), you should go w/ the person promising hope.  She h as become more nasty w/ each passing day, and frankly, I'm disappointed in her and her lack of leadership.

That being said, I will vote for her over McCain come November.

"The problem I have with Hillary is she is fighting dirty."

And though I share your distaste, there are two issues, methinks:

  1.  It works.

  2.  It will be used by McCain's campaign in the general.  See issue 1, above.

Unlike our resident trolls, I have no pride in these tactics, but I have to come down on the side of those people who feel that winning dirty is better than losing.  Will our being true to real Democratic principles really count for squat in the end when they're all made illegal by the latest soul-crushing fascist Republican regime?  Do we want to take charge one day and really make things happen, or shall we be forever the discontented and powerless?

Yeah, Nietzsche was right, but right now who but a monster is ever going to succeed?  It's a hell of a moral dilemma, I freely admit.

You are one of the few Obama supporters that I have found that will say that.

We should support whoever our nominee is.

I wanted another option: "No, she's a human being with whom I disagree."

I don't support Hillary Clinton and I am very glad that she won't be the nominee.  I am very displeased by her Republican-imitating campaign techniques.  We expect shit from them, but from members of our own party?

Previously, I was ready to vote for her if she was the nominee even though I disagree strongly with much of her economic policies, particularly regarding international trade and her corporatism.  Also, she will not do much, if anything, to bring about real campaign finance reform that gets corporate money out of the process.

But I would have campaigned my heart out for her because any Democrat is better than any Republican.  Republicans ALWAYS trash our economy when they get into office.

Since that time she has used the lowest of campaign techniques to try to win the nomination.  And now she's trying to game the system to take the power of choice away from the delegates on the convention floor.  I am VERY relieved that she will not be the nominee because I do not respect or trust the character of a person who would do such things.

But I have no doubt that she is a basically good human being who wants to do what she believes is right by her country.

Calling her a "Gollum" or a "monster" or anything else like that serves only to dehumanize her, and that is what anti-American, pro-corporation, dishonest, and immoral REPUBLICANS do.

I don't think we should do what Republicans do.

I am an ardent Obama supporter. But, let me say now that I will support Hillary as long as she wins the nomination FAIR and SQUARE and not try to game the delgates or use the invalid Florida and Michigan votes. No, we cannot afford to let the Repubs back in, but I'd rather do that than let someone in who would do ANYTHING to win. That person to me would make a more dangerous president than McCain ever would.
