What was racist about Rev. Wright's sermon?

I know we've had some heated discussions on race in the past and wil probably have more in the future, but honestly, I am trying to figure out, what did Rev. Jeremiah Wright say that was racist?

The parts about 9/11 and God Damn America and the history of slavery and endemic racism are what I know about. Anyone hear anything professing hatred for white Americans? Anything with a historically violent and racist connotation? (outside RW hysteria about anything dealing with criticizing the Right) Anything remotely close to racism?

If not, why did Pat Buchanan call him an "afro-Racist"? Why did Obama allow Wright to be called a racist?

This stuff is disgusting; people like Buchanan are 'patriots' and 'pundits' when they say the 50s were just fucking swell for Negros and that the days when America was around 90% white, well those were the days, but Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a racist for...what? Preaching so-called "Black liberation theology"? Do his critics even know what that means? Does anyone here know? Am I the only one enraged by this rank hypocrisy?

the two objectionable things he said were "Goddamn America", which was not racist, and the accusation that the American government invented aids, which was not actually outrageous.

It was comical, and I laughed when I saw it. C'mon c'mon c'mon. It's all faux outrage. The evidence they're citing for racism is that Barack called his grandmother a "typical" white woman. Oooooh.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that this is "typical" conservative mouth-foaming. Oops, I just made a generalization. Maoist apology inserted here.

I'll concede the term "afro-Racist" to Patty B. Can I call him a "euro-Racist" in return? Nah, I'll stick with the classic "nativist ignoramus" slur. Look dude, Barack's message is to try to engage those who are willing to be engaged, the rest of these jokers you can't tell anything too. So don't get mad. Don't insult them like I just did either :-p

Then they'll get "insulted" over anything. You know what's funny about that?

Sounds more and more like true political correctness, especially considering the very real political implications of such fake outrage.

"Discrimination has become so openly accepted that -- in a speech meant to tamp down his association with a black racist -- Obama felt perfectly comfortable throwing his white grandmother under the bus. He used her as the white racist counterpart to his black racist "old uncle," Rev. Wright. "-Ann Coulter

dot dot dot

"Fine. Can we move on now?

No, of course, not. It never ends. To be fair, Obama hinted that we might have one way out: If we elect him president, then maybe, just maybe, we can stop talking about race. "-Ann Coulter

It's really good in the afternoon, just a couple minutes after you get it out of the fridge while the day is at its hottest...mmm...

It's awesome when someone completely and absolutely disregards whatever they're replying to.
