Ron Paul's Fanatic Army

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
Now this is just silly.

Why is YouTube scoured with Ron Paulians that belien Ron Paul is the nominee with these 'straw polls' popping up in their reports? They keep saying that he won every single state so far with these 'straw polls', and have hundreds of delegates.

Yet, every time I see his delegate count, it is below 25. Why are they fighting the fact that Ron Paul has lost completely and utterly, and that McCain is the nominee?

for libertarians? It's the invisible hand of the free delegates!

Well in Missouri at the state caucuses to determine the state delegates, they swarmed the meetings, fired all the chairman and put their own people as county chairman, and are trying to get enough state delegates to unbind the primary results so that they can elect national delegates who are Ron Paul supporters. The county platforms are pretty amusing now because many of them were re-written.

Chances of defeating McCain.....very low. But they same thing happened in Alaska...to an extend anyway but I think they only got about 40% of state delegates so they couldn't rail road everyone there.

Probably the smartest politician we have.

Think about it.  He tells a small group of fanatic Libertarians and Anti-Republican Republicans who can't bring themselves to go Dem but can't support the war that he is their guy, raises more money than McCain and spends less than Huckabee.  Then when he "drops out of the race" he simply announces that he will not be spending any money (touring, ads, staff etc.) but that he is still secretly running and if you love America you still need to send campaign contributions.  Hell, he will even come do a "campaign event" in your area if you pay him up front.
And don't forget to buy his new book!

So Paul has raised many times over what he spent running and then quit and told his people to send more money for the "revolution."

Guy is a total genius.  Too bad he is an insane, racist scumbag to boot.

Oh well, no politician is perfect.

For full disclosure I should tell you part of Dr. Paul's district is in my county of residence.  Had my eye on Dr. No for decades.

What the law says is that the money can't be used for personal use but can be used for campaign debts and outstanding payments, donated to charities, given to other campaigns or PACS or, of course, be kept as a war chest for future races.

Of course all of these restrictions only apply to Senators, President and congressmen who entered the House after 1980.  Paul entered in 1976.  Muddying the waters is that this is a presidential race and Paul left the House and returned since 1980.  So are these funds grandfathered in as mad money for the good Dr. or not. It is unclear.

Of course, none of that really means shit since there is no Federal Election Comission to stop people illegaly using campaign funds anyway, right John McCain?

But even if he is bound by these provisions, let's get real.  So he pays members of his family and political cronies inflated salaries as campaign workers or contracts business he owns to do campaign work (a la Ross Perot) or sets up dummy charities and PACs or just gets good old-fashioned kickbacks from wherever he spreads his $5 million bucks around.

Ultimately anyone who gave a dime to this charlatan should be outraged that he didn't bother to spend their money doing what they intended (running for president) and instead will, best case scenario, give it to another politician they may or may not support or a charity not of their choosing.

Don't get me wrong I like Ron Paul running for Prez because he is the Nader of the right but clearly a whole lot of people have been taken to the cleaners.

To be fair to Dr. Paul, he has always made it very clear that he supports the right of dishonest people to take financial advantage of idiots free of government interference.

If anyone ever comes across a story about where the hell all that money went, please let me know.

Why are you so sure he didn't. The FEC spending reports for Q1 are not released yet. There is no possible way for you to know his finaicial situtation other than speculation...

we could follow your example in regard to Democratic candidates and just make up anything we want about Paul.

For example we are just wondering how you justify these statements:

TYT: the Dems support the troops by supporting their defeat. The dems can't be trusted on any matters of national security

Democrats hindering the war effort, funding, and the troops we'd have won these years ago. What we need is a much larger standing army, more media control, and fewer rules. Unfortunately Al Qaeda has learned to game our media in order to dispirit the American people and the dems just act an amplifier for their message.

Against this stement:

Ron Paul Forum: We need to gut the military to cut spending.

Please enlighten us how "gutting" the military is "supporting the troops" ?
