In light of all the discussions about race and racism lately I feel it is a good time to introduce this great blog on the world of "white people" to TYT crowd.  Many of you may have already seen it, if you haven't you're missing out.

And I'm not sure what it is.

Maybe it's that it's stupid and racist.  White people like shorts, huh?  And black people like wearing North Face coats in 70 degree weather with no clouds in the sky, HURR HURR HURR

I don't know.  Haven't we been through all this bullshit already?

Jarett, there is some truth to this stuff, and that's why its slightly amusing. When I'm up north in the winter, I notice guys wearing shorts and I can't understand what they're trying to prove. I'm pretty sure people didn't do stuff like this 20 years ago. I don't remember seeing people wearing shorts in Cleveland in January.

who wears shorts almost the whole year, but he's about 300 lbs.

I dunno, I think it's a "I'm tough and the cold doesn't bother me" thing.  That's hardly endemic to any one particular race.

A lot of this stuff made me bristle, and I'm usually pretty good at laughing at myself.  Maybe it's because a lot of it seems dedicated to hating on well-meaning liberals.

I agree with Ken on the short's thing (none / 0)
It's a minor pet peeve of mine (I don't *really* care, but I find it slightly annoying) when idiots wear shorts out when it's not even close to being warm.

They seem to think it's warm when the sun is out, despite a wind-chill that puts it in the 30's.  Just yesterday I saw some chump (yes, he happened to be white) wearing shorts out.

I know, it's an incredibly minor point but since someone else brought it up, I figured I'd throw in my 2 cents.  And while we're at it, why do people of ALL races wear sunglasses indoors and or when it's cloudy?


A: They're trying to look like bad-asses, but IMO, they just look foolish. Unless you have a black eye or are hiding tears for some reason, please don't wear sunglasses indoors or on cloudy days.

I think this link is a riot, alpha. It's time we all lightened up a bit and laughed at ourselves and our stereotypes. Now, some of the white folks who look at this might say "but I'm not like that!" Come on, fess up.
 
Let me toss out another stereotype and say these folks  likely have had significant contact with middle-class gated communities and are pretty much isolated from real-life interaction with people unlike themselves. Folks like this think they're multicultural because they frequent ethnic restaurants and listen to Norah Jones sing the blues. When we lose our sense of humor, we're in trouble. And I should also say that Norah Jones ain't bad.

I guess it hit a little close to home for some people?  BTW this site is targeted at a specific type of "white people".  There are a few other types.  For example, Jeff Foxworthy has been making fun of Ken's type of white people for over a decade.

Jeff Foxworthy's "type" of white people (a solid majority in this country, by the way...) wouldnt be caught dead voting for Obama (or Hillary for that matter) and they sure as Hell dont know what TYT is...

The reason I know this is cause I are one most of the time, ya' know!!!
