McCain says Obama is NOT elitist

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
Matthews:  Is Barack Obama an elitist?
McCain:  No.  But I do believe that his statements were elitist.  I think the comments about America and small towns in Pennsylvania, which I guess would apply to across America, the values and the faith that they have, I think, is immutable and unshakable.  I think that the fact
that they like to hunt has nothing to do with their economic conditions.

This statement alone shows how low the republicans will go.  He says himself that, Obama is NOT elitist, but he made elitist comments.  Now, how is that possible?  Can a non-elitist make elitist comments that are actually valid?  Isn't that a paradox?  Not only that, he continues to misrepresent Obama's original speech implying that Obama somehow meant that people like hunting because they are poor?  This is so far removed from Obama's speech that we have a completely different statement at this point.  No where in Obama's speech does he make THIS assertion.  This is a complete fabrication by McCain.

Would you be satisfied if Grandpa Death said something like:

"Well, you know, That Obama is a class guy who really knows what he's talking about. Im looking forward to getting my ass handed to me by this non elitist man who will in short lead our country into the promiosed land!!!"

Gimme a break - This is a war between parties - All is fair... Dont expect something inconvienent like, say, the truth!

Thanks...

When Obama says something that, near as I can tell, every poster on here admits is true (straight talk, if you will) the McCain and Hillary folks go nuts because although they agree with Obama they are deeply concerned that the rural folks in PA are just too stupid to understand this is true.

But Obama's belief that regular people could understand what is happening to them makes Obama an elitist.

Now, when McCain comes out and distorts what Obama said you defend him by saying this is what you expect your politicians to do?  Mislead you.  Therefore we should not have a problem with it.

Are you in an abusive relationship, bobo?  We can get you help.  You don't have to be lied to and deceived.  There is another way.

Hey bobo, consider the possibility that people are rejecting politics as usual and are hungry for something new and better.  Many people seem to see that in Obama (I am skeptical but curious for my part).

In unrelated news Obama has now widened his lead from 3 (last Friday) to 7 today.

All I was doing was commenting on the basic premise of the original post... Why would anyone rightfully expect any politician to actually tell the truth and give the benefit of the doubt to their opponent...

I just found the original post kind of silly - what would you expect McCain to say in this instance? It amazes me that many posters on this site still have the belief that Right and justice and truth still can prevail in the realm of American Politics - You would think the Bush years would have cured you guys of that nonsense...

Please dont take my post as a defense of Grandpa Death. I personally hope he falls over dead so our country could be saved from his abuse...

It just amazes me, though, how naive and "goody goody" some of you guys are in this struggle - This is a battle, and you dont bring flowers and chocolates. And you can leave your ideas of truth and justice and right at home - they have no place in our current system of elective politics...

When your guy wins, then he can work to change the system... until then, start bringing guns to the gunfight - even if you dont think its fair!

I didn't say I am surprised to see him do it.  I know damn well he is gonna do it.  I think most of us here know exactly the crap the pols are gonna pull.  If you take the post as a reaction of surprise, you don't get it.

Just because you expect it doesn't mean you shouldn't call his bullshit.  Doesn't mean you shouldn't be outraged.  When people do the wrong thing we absolutely should point it out.  Every damn time.

Your attitude of politicians are gonna be full of shit and the media isn't going to report anything worthwhile and we shouldn't bother to talk about it because we all expect it is tantamount to acqueiscence.

Why are you on here? Just to tell us all not to waste time talking about the bad things bad people do.  Just suffer them in silence?  Is there a need for that voice?

(Discalimer: I am in no way suggesting your opinion should be stifled or not allowed into the forum.  Just questioning its usefulness.)

I was definately NOT surprised to hear McCain lie.  I was pointing out the specific place where the Obama's elitist argument starts to unravel.  I was never naive enough to think that politicians tell the truth, but as ProfRich so keenly observed, I was merely calling the bullshit.  If no one calls it, then we end up in Iraq in 3 trillion dollar debt.  We have to call them out on every level, whether it be a TYT message board, or the front page of MSNBC.  However, MSNBC isn't calling McCain out like they should (surprise surprise), so I came here to weigh in on the situation.  To be called naive just makes me ignore that post.  I will not be angered into a flaming response, because I know that my original post was misinterpreted anyway...

Why bother with an election?  Just make the whole thing an episode of "Survivor".    How about "Survivor: Whitehouse".  Then we could watch Hillary eating rats and McCain gnawing on grubs and Obama munching ants in a competition on the Whitehouse lawn.  Then everyone just votes somebody out each week until there's only one person left.  Everyone would watch that, right?  Suddenly democracy would be popular again in America, and we'd get the leader we deserve, right?

If it was up to people like you that's how it would end up happening.  We're halfway there already.  Please stop encouraging this kind of crap.
