Dalai Lama Instigates Violence in Tibet

So I just watched a report on Reuters stating that Chinese officials had confiscated a large cache of weapons from monks in Tibet. I thought Tibetan monks were only into peaceful protest? Supposedly, The Dalai lama is instigating the violence by meeting with politicians instead of sticking solely to religious endeavors. It all sounds suspect to me.

You can't believe the propoganda coming from the Chinese government-controlled media.  HH The Dalai Lama is adamantly opposed to violence, but many Tibetans are fed up with passive opposition.  I am uncertain whether monks are actually engaging in violence.  I would bet that it is mostly the more secular Tibetans who are engaging in violence rather than the monks, but when people have been oppressed for so long, you can't blame some for becoming more active--it's just human nature.  I'm not condoning or promoting the protests (when I see Tibetans beating up Han Chinese in the street, it doesn't exactly promote sympathy), but I am certain the Dalai Lama himself is not promoting the use of violence.  In fact, he is often criticized for being too passive by those who are passionate about Tibet.  His role is that of a religious leader as well as a leader of the Tibetan people, so it is complicated.

Professor, you have been found guilty of geekory.

As you are obviously a geek and you have 2 choices. One, admit guilt. Two, be shipped off to a secret prison and be torchered until you admit guilt.

The choice is yours my friend.

Considering that I am always running out stats and history no one gives a damn about I am just glad it took this long for (some) to call me out.

I am guilty.

I have some experience with D&D but I LOVE comic books.

Marvel all the way.

I love comics too (and expecially Marvel)!  We're both children!  Yeah!  Between this and OHK's recent Guilty Gear reference, I feel like I'm surrounded by geeks of many variations.  But this is the internet afterall, so it's to be expected.

Yes, officially the Dalai Lama and his followers stand for and preach non-violence and peaceful resistance (ala Dr King and Ghandi).

But let us be realistic about the situation for them - The Han Chinese are not people who give a shit about peace and non-violence - "Peace, Love and Happiness" are not gonna make things better in this case... The Dalai Lama knows this, hes not stupid...

The Tibetians are entitled to defend themselves and resist the occupation of Imperial China... They have been armed for years and have been getting arms from India and Nepal for years - I just wish that the west had the balls to put the Chinese back where they belong - but God forbid we piss WalMart off...

thanks...
