I should thank Tim for passing them on to me.

They are long, but if you sit through it all, you do get a sense of where he is coming from. You understand the context of the statements a lot better, etc. I'm always amazed at how little we understand each other.

All the notwithstanding, the last half hour of the National Press Club speech is where he answers questions and that is the "juiciest" part where he is mroe "quotable." But that is also the part where he unfortunately is probably more confrontational than he should have been and explains a little less than he should have.

(side note: Rev. Wright's NAACP address is also available at Cenk's National Press Club  link)

I can't begin to imagine what FOX is saying about Jeremiah tonight. Since they don't stream as much content, I spend most of my time at MSNBC for talking head clips.

They tore Rev. Wright to shreds.

I was stunned at first, wondering if they had heard the same speeches I did. Then I was amazed as they did it again - shrink close to three hours of material down to two inflammatory sentences, completely ignoring and seemingly oblivious to the central theme of which the man spoke. Then I entered one of KenTX's alternate universes when I heard Chris Matthews - Chris Freakin' Matthews!! - go on a tirade about Rev. Wright's ego.

I expected to see the Red Queen at any second...

So much ado about so very little. Such a shame that another person's words are attached so heavily to a candidate. Meanwhile, Hillary meets with Sciafe and Murdoch and barely a ripple breaks the surface calm. McCain can walk around New Orleans and pretend he has po' folks interest at heart and the press buries it in their bloody haste to get a reaction quote in response to Rev. Wright's comments.

The Bizarro Superman is now in charge of Metropolis...

I appreciate the links. Thanks for pointing out the Detroit speech...

Now, please do not tell me you are surprised at the press coverage on this!! You seem like a really bright guy on here, and you know the MSM is all too eager to put the Angry Black Guy all over the TV to put Obama in the spotlight!!!

As we have previously discussed in past posts Tim - It doesnt matter what Wright says and how much sense it makes - It only matters that he is who he is, he said "God Damned America" and he will forever be remembered and labeled for that... Thats what American eat up like hotcakes... Wright is a Cancer to the campaign, and Obama needs to leave the church and Rev. Wright altogether...

I have to go buy my riot gear for Denver now - people are really gonna be pissed when the Superdelegates give this to the Hildabeast!!!

Thanks again!!!

You haven't made any kind of case here... people are better than you will give them credit for. The MSM be damned, the truth is what it is, and majority of people will respond to the truth. Barack needs to dig into his reserve, and once again rise above the flood of crap the panderers and peddlers of distortion you aspire to be like, have created. You can bang yer keyboard about angry black men from your shuttered panic room till election day... but this thing is gonna happen.

ps- the monkey moniker fits you well... yer just apeing all this tripe from the bigger but not necessarily better pandering monkies.

ps- gosh yer one of the nicest trolls ever!! : )

im not here to make or prove any sort of case - Im just making observations - thats all...

As for people being better than that, Im sorry to see that you are having trouble understanding the nature of people in our world... they are not better than that, as history has told us time and again... I guess thats just a difference in perspective that we probably will never see eye to eye with...

The script for Obamas demise has been set -its just a matter whether the people and the media will go along - you can thank me later for the forewarning...

Im not the one in the panic room, pictman - I see all too clearly how this country works - it is the Liberals and Democrats who see their world imploding - who see their supposed victory collapsing from within - and it scares the living Hell out of you - and it should...

get your riot gear ready - LA 92 and Chicago 68 is gonna be a tea party compared to Denver 08!!!

Bobo says it is "Democrats see their world imploding-see their supposed victory collapsing from within-and it scares the living hell out of you"

So either Bobo talks about himself in the second person or he is a giant lying troll Republican masquerading as a Democrat so his points don't seem slanted.

it certainly wasnt me - I have never professed to being a Democrat...

On the flip side, though, you must admit over the last couple of days the playbook has been firmed and the downfall of Obama is now in full swing - When the SuperDelegates (and they are the only ones that matter at this point) give this to Hillary because she is more electable to the white population - your wing of the party and the "Obama Supporters" will be in full uproar - its gonna be fun to watch!!!

Even if Obama does get the nod - its still gonna be fun watching the lions devour the meek -

"A House divided against itself cannot stand..."

Thanks Abe Lincoln, Republican #1!!!

No one is accusing you of being a Democrat bobo,  spewing your racist screed as you do... I think its hilarious that modern Republicans try to claim Lincoln and the Emancipation of the slaves as their own, especially considering that Republicanism in its present form rests on a firm foundation of racism especially since Civil Rights activism of the 1960's and the South flipped from a Dixiecrat to a solid Republican base. The original Radical Republicans were abolitionists and were centered in New England, home of the liberal left now... another misnomer... New Englanders are fiscally conservative... just socially progressive because they are frickin' educated ... I thought you were the Academic Bobo? Sounds to me like you've never parted the covers of a History book.

In 1968, after being kept more out of power since 1932, the Republican party forged a new coalition to take back the White House.  Nixon ran on his "silent majority" and a "Southern strategy" which was code for good old-fashioned white southern racism.  JFK and LBJ had rejected racism wholesale and the South, who had been solidly Democrat since the beginning, had begun to grow uncomfortable with this new direction.
Nixon, who certainly talked like a racist in his office, jumped on this chance to steal a solid block of electoral votes.  Carter, who was from Georgia, had some Southern support but it was only temporary.  Reagan ran on "states rights" and restoring "Federalism" which really meant ignoring or undoing the Federal governments attempts to end racist state policies.
Fortunately, because he was a Republican, Reagan had no more interest in restoring Jim Crow than he did stopping abortion.  It was just some shit to say come election time.  He certainly screwed a lot of working class and poor people but it was only race-based in that minorities tend to be poor.
Incidentally, I don't think Bush is a racist at all nor do I think his main advisors are in general.  I think he has contempt for people who aren't rich but, again, the fact that most rich people are white is coincidental.
I do think McCain is a racist though.  Probably the last fairly obviously racist major candidate we will see.
The end of an error.

Ike was the one Republican President between 1932 and 1968.  Congress was controlled by the GOP for two years in that span (1952-1954).
But Ike was kind of like Clinton in that we won as a Republican by being extremely centrist.  It would be impossible to call him a conservative in the same way Clinton was a centrist and not a liberal.  In the same way I would argue that there was not a conservative president from 32-68 I would argue the only liberal president from 68-08 was Jimmy Carter and he only won because, in the wake of Watergate Jimmy Walker could have beat the GOP.

I watched the Newshour last night on PBS and couldn't believe the impetus of the questions on Rev. Wright's appearance at the National Press Club, ie. "oh how much is this hurting Barack?" and on and on... total nonsense... PBS is as bad as some of them... then I see this article on Raw Story this morning... and I see the complicity of the media... a death by a thousand cuts is Baracks future if they can succeed...
