You couldn't wait until his hand was cold before trying to take the gun from it.

This mans life should not simply be summized by his belief in gun rights.

He also supported civil rights as well.

The man was also a great actor.

The right to bear arms was written into the constitution by our forefathers not by Heston.

Although I believe their should be better regulation of guns in our society. The fact is, that the right to bear arms, was intended as a means of protection for the people against a corrupt government.

Decency should be the word for today.

Even I wouldn't joke about Heston's frequent quote about prying his gun from his cold, dead hand. And I don't care if his gun is buried with him - that's one gun that won't do anyone harm.

I'm not a gun extremist - I own three guns myself. But every sensible attempt to keep guns out of the wrong hands has been opposed by the NRA, which makes gun control laws weak so they can they then proclaim that gun control laws don't work.

The Second Amendment provides: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The NRA wants to afford the first clause no meaning whatsoever; I believe the Framers would have left it out had that been their intent.

Tim McVeigh was a good soldier, but that did not cleanse the blood from his hands, nor did it inspire me to speak no ill of him upon his demise. Heston was not a monster like McVeigh, but he facilitated enough death to diminish any acclaim or respec t he might have otherwise deserved.
