<Bob Barr taking field sobriety test in 2002...

Former Congressman Rob Barr who led Bill Clinton's impeachment push is channeling his own inner Ralph Nader.

He quit the Republican Party two years ago, saying he had "grown disillusioned with its failure to shrink government and its willingness to scale back civil liberties in fighting terrorism."

(See bombastic claims of Bush victory in the Republican war on civil liberties here or, known by its real name, victory in the Rights for Taxcuts Program( a lot like carbon offsets)!

"His candidacy would be a wild card in the White House race and many believe it would hurt Republican Sen. John McCain." McCain insider who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Barr said "( Republicans) also said they understand why I'd run and why John McCain is not conservative and will not seriously tackle the growth in government power and spending Some said they would vote for me if I ran, but for the sake of the Republican Party, they would prefer I didn't."

I shouldn't reward you by commenting, but how could I not?

Clearly you're a lock for the TYT Annual Awards for the category of Most Misleading Thread Title.

Come to think of it, we *should* have some type of TYT annual awards. It'd be fun and it would engage the members.

I, for one, wish we had a lot more opportunity to engage the show.  There is a thread about missing the old days.  The thing I miss most about the old days is being able to call in.  It seems with direct listener support more critical than ever, unlimited time, no format rules and a hard core following some opportunity for call in would be a no-brainer.  Howard Stern has an entire post-game show for people to call in + the calls he takes on the show and he is in a similar "pay for play" situation.  Why won't it work here?

Along the way we fans have come to play less and less of a role in the show but are being asked to do more and more (paying, advertising, having our posts turned into segments uncredited, etc.).  Kind of disappointing to me. Its probably just the populist in me.

fans here in the Forum

Many of us try to keep things lively...Ken, Tim Hubs OHK Jarett , Bias to name a few ( please dont get pissed if I left you out) but it does seem like we are rolling rocks up hill.

But, it's his show after all...we'll see how it works out.

Just kidding.

I don't say this to attack Cenk, Dave and co.

I love the show and am glad to have it.  I think we can make friendly suggestions.  There seems to be a call for how can we help the Turks succeed.  I told Cenk and the guys years ago to make the listeners a bigger part of the show.  I understand the when they went to Air America they lost some control.  But under the current circumstances I believe this now more than ever.

My two cents.  The guys have always appreciated it before.

I agree with the Professor on this one - There is no reason for Cenk not to take callers - I would find this sort of interaction much more engaging and useful than having some old sex slut hawking her crappy book...

A lot of us are getting tired of the Obamagasms and other 100% Cenk only rantings - Let other people in the mix - the forum and live chat is a good start, but to be honest its not enough...

I hope you guys aren't really in that much trouble (as Medford Tim pointed out elsewhere) and you're heart isnt in it anymore - that would be a damn shame...

I need to rethink this call in show thing.

I hadn't considered bobo's calls.

the verbal bitchslap that Cenk would deliver.  Ahhh...  What I wouldn't give to hear it.

Why do you think Cenk doesnt take calls? Its because he's afraid of getting bitchslapped out of one of his numerous Obamagasms...

Obama people cant take criticism and debate - thats why most of them squelch them at any cost...

Haven't you ever wondered why Cenk stopped taking calls? Duh....

Please try to keep up...

Bobo says:

"Obama people cant take criticism and debate - thats why most of them squelch them at any cost..."

I invite anyone who doesn't alrady know take a tour through bobo's posts and see what happens when someone tries to debate him with evidence.

This is almost as stupid as Ken's victory laps.

Also, why is "at any cost" in bold and italics in bobo's comment?  Odd...

I would only want it to be for say, 30 minutes at some point in the 4 hour block.

Or maybe an hour one day a week or something.  I really like the show as it is (there's always room for improvement) and like others have said, listener calls are often uninsightful and questionable at best.

Maybe it'd be different here, but then again maybe not. Consider how few people bother posting here. The fact is we really don't interact with the majority of people who watch and listen to TYT.

I miss the calls, even though the majority of call in talk radio sucks.  We'd probably have better call quality now with the smaller group of listeners.

It would be especially nice to be able to call in now that we have a timeslot that's suitable for humans.

But we really need the good Dr. Paul to run.

That should eliminate any chance McCain has.  He will pull 5% almost entirely from Grampa Death.  No surviving that.

All of Fred's talk about the effect of the 1% Bob Barr, Ron Paul, Ross Perot whacko vote in the swing states is really making me laugh.

Take a peek at the exit poll results from Pennsylvania.
Only 53% of people who voted for Hillary Clinton said they would vote for Barack Obama in November if he wins the nomination. And 25% of the Pennsylvanians who voted for Hilary Clinton said they would vote for John McCain if Barack Obama is the nominee.

Considering how many Democrats voted for Hillary over Obama in Pennsylvania, that’s a lot of “McCain Democrats” we can count on in November. Think about the impact of McCain Democrats in Rich's swing states: MI, MN, NH, OH, PA, IA, WV.

Here's how Nora O'Donnell reported the poll results on MSNBC:
"NBC News poll specifically asked Clinton and Obama voters what they would do if their preferred candidate did not win the nomination, and they were faced with the following choice:  Support the other Democrat or vote for John McCain or stay home.  First, as you see here, only 53% of Clinton voters said they would vote for Barack Obama.  That's stunning! Only 53%.  And when you look essentially at Obama voters, 69% said they would vote for Hillary Clinton if she ends up the nominee.  And what about those new voters that we were talking about, remember, more than 300,000 new Democratic voters in Pennsylvania today?  Check out this number: 29% of those new voters said they would not vote for Hillary Clinton in November."

"Considering how many Democrats voted for Hillary over Obama in Pennsylvania, that’s a lot of “McCain Democrats” we can count on in November."

What is strange is that over the last week as Hillary has taken a header in polling, Obama has picked more points on McCain than on Clinton.  Since its inconceivable I have been right and the Dems were talking out there ass this must signal a massive defection of the GOP to Obama.  Probably for fear of having to rub elbows with all those Hillbots at the fundraisers.

LOL, it is a massively unreported likelihood that massive numbers of GOP-ers will run to vote Democrat rather than be on the same side as so many Hillary supporters. The rush of "femi-nazis" that Rush has programmed them to hate so much will frighten them into running the other way.

I look forward to the new party demographics that come out of this election after we swap these large swaths of voters. Things had started to get a little stale.

work out fine for us

"Against either Democrat, age could be a significant obstacle for
McCain. Only three in 10 said they were "entirely comfortable" with the
prospect of a 72-year-old newly-elected president."

This will be used against him again and again
