POLL: What Would Be Your Preferred Time for the Show?

If you like this story, digg it!

We'd like to take a poll for purely information gathering purposes.  There is no particular significance beyond that, but you are free to speculate wildly about the underlying meaning anyway.  All that we ask is that you answer this question: During which time slot below would you prefer for the Young Turks main political show and post-game variety shows?  If you have comments, please write those in as well.  Check the poll here.

The better the time-slot (in radio terms), the more competition there is. I think the timing of the post game show is much more relevant since it's a one time shot for non-members if they miss it live.

Since the regular show loops all day, I'm not sure how important the show time is, other than it changes when people might be able to chat.

And obviously it's harder/easier to get guests to come on at different times, and being on later in the day often means you're behind the curve on the day's news.  Then again you get late-breaking news before the next day's morning shows, and you have more time to analyze the spin.

PS---Is Cenk more refreshed, alert and on top of things now that he can sleep at a normal time?  How about the rest of the TYT staff?  I'm being serious here, sleep is a huge deal, and ultimately I'd like to have Cenk be at his best, regardless of the time of day.

Besides, since I'm a member I rarely watch live and prefer to download the podcasts to listen while cleaning, commuting, walking, etc.

My job can be dispatched for any time of day when I'm needed, so the present time slot fits my schedule best.  As a member, I can download the podcast and take it on my next morning commute if I'm not at my computer during the show.

by gatekeeper50 on 05/14/2008 07:59:28 PM EST

I podcast the show and listen to it while at work the next day, so whatever time slot is best for the makers of the Young Turks is my opinion

I would love watching the RPG show live in the evenings on the west coast, but I'm a member too, so can enjoy it anytime.

Keep start time of 3pm eastern, but move the show to the Boston. Since Jayar has never been east and would probably balk at relocating, give him his own show in LA and hire me as producer of the new, improved Eastern Snob-Appeal TYT.

by ashbul on 05/15/2008 05:22:13 AM EST

Lots of news seems to break at this time of day, so it's always fun to see that live.

But I don't really care if you move it though.  Us members can watch the show whenever we like.  HINT HINT.

The time slot that appealed to me most was 6-9pm ET ,not for my benefit, but I choose it to benefit my girlfriend. I would love for her to see you live and have us enjoy the show together. I watch the post game show instead of the local news anyway, so why not be able to get the interviews and substantive information at that time. I hope that the time change goes smooth if there is one. God bless, go forward.

In reality it doesn't matter because you re-run the show on the site throughout the day. That is a great idea to do. Keep up the great work! Everyone rules...except for Dave Kohler who rips off Costco. :)

by myeazel on 05/15/2008 05:41:44 PM EST

So you can cover relevant stories from today, and still beat the evening news.

One thing I disliked about the Air America Radio timeslot, was that y'all were having to cover yesterday's news, and at 9am Eastern, all of these fresh stories would break making the show sorta irrelevant.

Anyway, no matter when you do it, we'll keep watching/listening. &n bsp; Take care,

I can't believe only 43 people have voted.  Hope that's no reflection on the November elections.

I love Cenk, so obviously watching the show live is best, but membership has its privileges!

So I'm not surprised that so few people voted.  Oh well, if those fools want to miss out, then they miss out.  ;)

And all 14 of those were after my post (seriously, Nick, either your pop-up blocker settings need to be adjusted or you're not highlighting the text before clicking on the hyperlink icon, what browser are you using?) about the poll. Therefore, I'm taking credit for those votes. And half of the remaining votes.

Yes, I want a cookie. Or a t-shirt :-)

(Had to use something other than the dumbass winky/smiley face I've been doing so much lately)

I have no bias.  So I agree with ihavenobias, and I will watch the loop whenever.  Do it at the time you deem best.

by adeane on 05/15/2008 08:51:05 PM EST

Can't afford to be. Yet. Hopefully soon, but I've been saying that for a while. As such, the current time slot is the worst for me because when I come home from work I have to wait for the loop, which usually starts right after RPG at 6pm (central). Unfortunately, that means I don't catch the second hour of the show as KO comes on at 7pm, and then I have to wait quite a while to catch the second half of the show. I don't get time to get much else done as I work seven days a week and can barely even get caught up on basic chores. And gotta get stuff done and then get to bed, and I find myself never getting enough sleep these days.

So the best time for me would be if the show was from 6-9 est, or in the morning so I could watch some during lunch or catch the loop as soon as I get home.

And even if I was a member, I think I would like to watch the loop since I think u get audio podcasts, but not video...? I've asked Dave this in e-mails about other stuff a couple of times but not gotten an answer. Maybe he just has too much to do and can't read through every e-mail so I get it, or maybe he just didn't notice that question. I'd like to be able to watch the full video of the show whenever I want when I'm a member, if possible. Thanks for asking, TYT.

by Weapon X on 05/15/2008 10:48:01 PM EST

Video is only available for the post game show.  Yeah, it'd be nice at times to have it for the regular show, but PGS video is more important.

I mean, that's when they tend to show more pictures for the entertainment segments, plus the boys love Ana and Contessa.

but you can download (or just stream) the regular show video from the members section of the site.

You can get (stream or download) the video for the regular show for [roughly] the previous months shows from the TYT site.

prefer early though. The young turks used to be my primary, first source of info, because they beat everyone else to the punch for the morning's news. now I've heard 50% of the stories by the time Cenk covers'em.

But whatever it takes to keep the show afloat gets my vote.

by hazmat on 05/16/2008 01:38:20 AM EST

For me, I'd not likely be able to see the show live in any of the slots.  However, I would ask that the show not run any later in the day than it does now.  Currently when I podcast the show, I get an update at work, just before I leave the office, and listen to that in my commute home and when I go running.  If it was any later, I'd not be able to do that and I'd probably not listen as much because of it.

by sterno on 05/16/2008 05:58:09 PM EST

although I mostly watch the next morning, but at least this way I could watch some of it the same day.  I enjoy the new freedom to swear, but it limits how I listen because of 'the chillren'.

by Duncansmom14 on 05/16/2008 06:19:11 PM EST

For me, anytime is good.  I love being a member, and hearing and watching when it's good for me.  Any and all time with Cenk is good!

by kittydoo on 05/17/2008 11:53:51 AM EST

This wouldn't mean anything to anyone else but I would like a morning regular show and then I could pick up the post game show segments in the late afternoon.  Would just space out my day best.  But being a member, it is no big deal.  Although, thinking about it now, I do like to get Cenk's take on things before most of the other media types have their go at things.  Best to be grounded with the best, first.
