While attempting to copy Obama's call for change, the GOP has instead stumbled over a previously trademarked logo The Change You Deserve which would seem to be telling all Americans that if you want change then you should take drugs.

Read the excellent response by Dana Milbank to the infinitely ignorant & incompetent GOP lack of brain-trust at the Washington Post.

(excerpt) House Republicans may be heading off a cliff in November, but give them credit for perseverance. Even after the new slogan they floated -- "The Change You Deserve" -- was discovered to be trademarked ad copy for the antidepressant drug Effexor, GOP leaders decided to go with the rollout anyway.

How retarded can they be?  It's not even a good slogan!  It implies that the "change" of Obama's platform is "change you don't deserve," doesn't it?

It sounds like a vieled threat!

Makes me think, "Get what you deserve"  Does anyone ever say that in a nice way?

Oh, and I generally hate advertising that tells us we deserve something (a big mac, a luxury sedan, a trip to Disney World) when what they really mean is give us money for it.  If I deserve it so damn much, shouldn't you just give it to me?  That is one of the least effective ad phrases on me.  It kind of makes me angry.

"You deserve to give us 45k for a Lexus"  Gee, thanks!

I don't know how he did it but musical infant terrible managed to write the 2008 McCain campaign song twenty years ago.  The Change You Deserve song by the Nine Inch Nails (Hey, that's a Bible reference!)

Here are the lyrics with all the repeated parts taken out.
