For a Deity - Even for a Canadian Liberal - You at least could have said Olbermann or Murrow - but certainly not a hack like Matthews...

of political monotheism.

I've always enjoyed Matthews bantor, Olberman annoys me, he has just something annoying about him. But Olberman does a good job at exposing things that the majority of the mainstream media ignores, or barely covers. You know what really sucks for a "Canadian liberal", we don't get MSNBC, we get the sorry excuse of CNBC.

Now everyone loves Matthews?

All is forgotten? He has been a right wing hack for years. He has perpetuated lie after lie against a host of liberal candidates. Every once in a while he has on a Pub smuck, he slaps around abit to prove he is not biased.

Matthews, to his credit, is against the war. Let's see him go after McCain like that

saw it as it happened..

Right wing talk show hosts OBVIOUSLY dont know what they are talking about and it was great to see Mathews point it out..

JUST TELL ME WHAT HE DID!

See, guys, Chris Mathews isn't that bad! Lol, really, though, I said I thought he was being genuine about his love for the process and history and strategies of elections. He's not trying to be sexist or corporatist when he makes those comments everyone gets pissed about. Maybe I'm naive, but I think the man means well and seems really hurt when people accuse him of prejudice and unfairness. I know, I know, he has been easily spinned and manipulated by the right-wing at times, but he's not an empty vessel.

And I did like his book on Kennedy and Nixon. And even Hardball (the book), though not as much. The Kennedy/Nixon book was a good look into the history between the two men and their campaigns and administrations.

This was an awesome interview! It needs a proper link, though (come on, Nick, they taught you how to do this the last time you posted! Is this some kind of socialist belief condemning hyperlinks? ;) Or a protest, or something?).

It's nine minutes long, but the last five minutes make the first four totally worth it. Must see TYTTV.

That Kevin McDouchebag guy got obliterated like Iran in a Hillary presidency.

And Mathews was finally just begging the guy to save his own ass by shutting up and the stupid prick just could not help himself.  Wow.

Prediction: Kevin Whatshisface will have be the new organizer of the GOP convention.  I hear McCain really likes the cut of his jib.

Of course McCain used to have sleepovers at Nevile Chamberlain's granddad's house so that might be awkward...

Anyway, link. (Nick, please learn how to do this)

by z1p101 on 05/15/2008 11:09:40 PM EST

I cannot do that link business on my browsers. I can insert images, the pop-up for that comes up, but the pop-up window for the links does not appear. Sorry guys...

highlight the text that you want to be your link in the editor first.

When I made that link I first typed the word link, then I highlighted it with the cursor, then I clicked on the link button and the window appeared.

not stupid, I know how to insert links normally in other forums. I usually do it html style, [link][/link].

Try Firefox. It works.

The comments features don't work in Safari. Which browser do you use?

not even firefox, its very strange. Also, HTML doesn't seem to work, so until this is resolved you guys will have to bear with me.

but you have to go into User Preferences-- Interface and uncheck the WYSIWYG editor box..

then you can just use old fashioned HTML for a link

(a href=" url "} link {/a}

Canadians have generally better internet connectivity than the United States...so it can't be that.

You set the preferences as CD pointed out is accessed from the preferences link .

I am assuming that your using the link icon on the GUI, If your posting the address directly  in the GUI...wont work particularly since your style:  " I usually do it html style, [link][/link]" isnt HTML at all. Also the GUI ( WYSIWYG) often will give"unexpected" results if you post html code directly to the tool. Use the link tool and copy the adress from the browser window or manually enter it. The GUI will take hyperlinks if you copy from a web page highligthing the hyperlink using CTRL C to copy and CTRL V to paste.

In the text based tool ( no quotes):

"<a href="http://www.theyo ungturks.com">This is a hyperlink</a>"

will produce a simple hyperlink.

I doubt different browsers would produce the same result unless perhaps you have some sort of internet security software running ( do you?) that sort of thing.

This was one of the best on-air smackdowns I have seen!  I sort of have to agree with Weapon X about Chris Matthews.  He seems to have some integrity, but also to sometimes be two different people.  Watching clips of him with Coulter this year had me seethingly pissed at him for not calling her out on her shit.

by desertpear on 05/15/2008 11:49:34 PM EST

Matthews actually knows his shit.  Now it's just his pesky suck-up-to-all-people-in-po wer attitude that we have to break him of.

by Spencer on 05/16/2008 12:44:52 AM EST

I think it's his infatuation with politicians (especially those who "play hardball") that we need to break him of.

No, Tweety, no! That's a puddy tat!

If Mathews only problem is sucking up to the powerful he must have been licking his chops with that no-name jerkoff rolled into the studio.  He had to be thinking I full up to my ears with Obama and McCain jizz, bring me a fucking pinata in a suit!!

Actually if his producers could do a shittier job booking guests he might have a really badass show on his hands.

The point for me is that these Rightie loudmouths are blasting it anyway and will continue to blast it until November to listeners who will see this as an unfair attack. Appeasement, appeasement, appeasement will be the unending mantra. You can bet he is going to spin it mightily on his next radio show. And the underinformed lemmings will continue their march to the sea. Nothing is going to improve in this regard until there is enough progressive talk radio in some of these rural areas...like West Virginia.

by Verified1 on 05/16/2008 05:12:36 AM EST

He's all over the place.  It's hard to decide if he's full of crap or not, but every now and then he sinks his teeth into someone's ass who really deserves it and it's truly entertaining.   Because of that I have a certain fondness for him.  If he were to get consistent and do that to everyone who spouted a line of BS he would be the man to watch.

by bfaul on 05/16/2008 11:12:54 AM EST

If Mathews knew how much creibility this five minutes has bought for him after years of declining respect you think he would do this more?

How do we tell him?

I think we need to take the power of the internet and use it to tell the media conglomerates what we want to see on TV.

But seriously, after watching that video a second time, I thought that kid must be coked up or snorting caffeine.  It's just for young assholes like him that I have a "Draft College Republicans" bumpersticker on my truck.

by desertpear on 05/16/2008 01:48:45 PM EST

He got eaten alive.

And rightly so. If a college dropout doesn't know about the Munich Agreement, I get it. But a windbag on national TV really should know, republican or not.

But here's the thing: no-one cares. People who don't know their history (about 70 percent of the population, if not more) will look at this and not get what Chris is talking about, they don't know. They won't get why the republican got burned.

That's why republicans exist even though facts are against them: if the people don't know the facts, the fact and the lie become equals.
